Imagine being told by your nutritionist or registered dietician to drink diet soda instead of water so weight loss is easier. In a new study, it is suggested that diet drinks might be more effective than water alone in helping dieters shed pounds. This study, published Tuesday in the journal Obesity, included about 300 overweight participants, all of whom were enrolled in a weight loss and exercise program. As part of the intervention, each participant was randomly assigned to one of two groups. One group was told to avoid all diet drinks and drink mostly water. The other group was told to consume a combination of zero-calorie drinks (for example, diet soda or artificially sweetened teas) and water.
At the end of three months, the participants in the diet-drink group had lost about 13 pounds on average. That was 4 pounds more than the average of 9 pounds lost by those in the water group.

Are you a victim of your own health issues? Do you follow the standard American diet? What are some of issues you’ve been experiencing because of your diet? My guest Erica Petrosky followed the standard American Diet all the way to 206 lbs. and was very unhealthy – she was diagnosed with thyroid disease and high cholesterol at the of age 24. She worked harder and exercised and lost some weight, weighing in at around 150 lbs at age 28; but kept the health diagnoses.
At the age of 31, she was at 145lbs when she was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes by a general practitioner and was put on the standard diabetes medication, she began low-carb diet to control her glucose while continuing to follow current "low fat" guidelines of the American Medical Association; the following months proved very hard on her body and brutal on her energy levels: At the age of 32 she lost too much weight (down to 119lbs) and had to correct it because her normal female functions had ceased
After doing some, well TONS, of research online about autoimmune diseases (LADA/Type 1 diabetes and Hashimoto's Thyroid Disease. She came across a paper, "Cereal Grain Sword" by Dr. Loren Cordain of Colorado State University that proved to be the gateway to the answers she was seeking. Through his research, Cordain was able to connect cereal grains to autoimmune disorders! WOW! - Just think about that... the very food that we have been seeing as the staple of the American diet for, well, as long as she remember. She researched more and began to incorporate what she learned in her life.

Today I'm teaching you everything that you need to know when you are beginning a restrictive diet.
Last month a client asked me if being on a strict diet (as she is) is healthy - mentally, emotionally and physically. She said that although she feels better, it doesn't seem natural to be so restrictive.
Like many people, she came to be on a "strict" diet through research into nutrition and how to clear up minor (or major) physical symptoms through diet change. She found success with reducing her symptoms. Yet she wasn't sure if it was "right" to eat this way.
I know that other people are on even stricter diets than her, like paleo, GAPS, specific carbohydrate, and/or raw vegan, among others. If you're considering oen of these diets, or another specific diet, listen to this before you take the leap! I promise - you'll like what you hear.
The fact that we spend billions of dollars on diets every year isn't surprising and the answer to weight loss isn't a secret: Diets do work and the money to buy them is hardly an issue, based on consumption statistics. So what is the hang-up?

The world helps us find things to keep us satisfied; it suggests people we should like, what we should wear, what we should eat, and what we should take-almost every day. I'm not exempt. I look up to the same people everyone else does. I want to know what their secrets are and how they do certain things.
