I couldn’t help chuckling as I pulled into the church parking lot. “David Stearman Tonight,” read the marquis, “Not a discouraging Word Will Be Heard.” This was not the first time I’d been accused of being a Pollyanna, although my natural temperament was really not to blame. My optimism stems from God’s Word. The daily study of verses like Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,” tends to affect one’s outlook over time. That’s why I wrote this devotional. I want to encourage you with some of the scriptures God has used to encourage me. Focusing on His positive promises generates faith for a brighter future. And we all need more faith, since life on this planet can prove challenging, and faith is the victory that overcomes the world. So take a few minutes each day for the next thirty days to meditate with me on these uplifting verses. I promise you, not a discouraging word will be heard.
About David Stearman:I'm a songwriter/recording artist/novelist, who specializes in adventure stories set in exotic locales. I have a special love for the tropics--jungles and beaches--which is reflected in both my novels and personal life. (In the form of hobbies like breeding parrots, growing orchids, and keeping saltwater reef aquariums.) I travel widely, striving to write about the places I visit in a way that will make readers feel they've been there too. I've always seen this world as a place of wonder, surpassed only by the people who inhabit it and it's divine Creator.

Alzheimer’s is a fatal, inflammatory, degenerative brain disease that causes a gradual decline in brain activity. There is a terrible stigma against Alzheimer’s sufferers and their families; social isolation takes hold as friends, family and acquaintances interact with the sufferer and their caregivers less and less out of feelings of discomfort and fear.
Daisy Roberts was a highly educated, loving wife and mother. In 2008, her adoring son, Dr. Norris Lee Roberts, Jr. learned that his mother suffered from Alzheimer’s. The resulting grief urged him to write down his thoughts to help him process this terrible news. Those thoughts became Mama is Still Here! A Mother and Son’s Love Passage Through Alzheimer’s Disease, an inspirational tribute to his Mom and a guide for those who find themselves in a similar situation. It takes the reader on a journey to greater awareness, understanding and acceptance for Alzheimer’s sufferers and their loved ones through 21 stories, daily prayers and devotionals from Scripture.
“Mama Is Still Here!” is getting critical acclaim from those who have read and view it as a seminal work for those dealing with Alzheimer’s. One recent reviewer summed up the feelings of many when he wrote, “I commend the author for telling this story as he did. This book is one of the most inspirational yet heart-wrenching tales ever told and I’m so glad that I read it.”
Dr. Norris Lee Roberts is an accomplished professional with over 20 years experience in Information Technology and Education. He holds a doctorate in Education and numerous degrees in Business Administration.
