The Attman family for years has had one of the best delis in Baltimore. But Edward Attman didn't want to go into the family business. He wanted a product that was more universal than deli and that wasn't perishable. The answer? Paper.
The resulting Acme Paper is responsible for the drink cups, popcorn cups, hot dog trays, and napkins at the Raven's M&T Bank Stadium and Orioles Park at Camden Yards. And Maryland Live Casinos, and King's Dominion, etc. You know those trays that carry several drinks and some food? Their creation. And those weird looking pulp trays are their's, too.
Still very active in the business at 94, Edward has passed most of the running of it to sons Ron, David, Gary, and Steve have joined the business and have taken it beyond paper. They now also serve retail packaging for industries such as janitorial equipment and healthcare.
The third generation is now entering the ranks, with Scott, Keith, Andy, and Michael. Not surprisingly, they have lead the addition of a green line, now one of their most in-demand product lines.

Today New York Supreme Court Justice Milton Tingling struck down Mayor Michael The Nanny Bloomberg's ban on large servings of sugary soft drinks at the City's restaurants, delis, theaters and bars. His ruling chastized the mayor for over stepping his authority and stated that the actions of the New York City Board of Health were arbitrary and capricous. Bloomberg has vowed to immediately appeal, however from this veteran court observer's view, the decision is pretty much bullet-proof!

What would you do if your pet went missing?
When Sharon's beloved Mom passed away, she experienced how overwhelming "sitting shiva" can be. Exhausted and depleted, she thought, "There must be a better way!" and conceived the idea of a comprehensive website to conveniently provide information, assistance and coordination of the bereavement period. After a year of research and development, she launched, http://ShivaConnect.com - a free resource to help Jewish families and those wishing to express their condolences. It features educational articles, a new "Shiva Registry" technology to privately post and share funeral & shiva details, links for charitable donations, a shiva food zip code search, helpful resources and an emailed Yahrzeit Reminder. It only takes 5 minutes for a relative, Synagogue or caring friend to enter information on a private Shiva Registry page that includes : funeral and shiva dates, times, places, interactive directions, mourners' contact information, food notes, synagogue affiliations, family charitable requests, tributes and who to call if you have a question. A direct link to the Shiva Registry is then emailed, texted, tweeted, posted on Facebook or found through a search on ShivaConnect's home page. With "just a click," family and friends learn sitting shiva details, make charitable donations, find local delis, view/post food planned for each day, find helpful resources and send thoughtful messages to mourners. Families appreciate fewer phone calls, less stress, confusion and wasted food. People near and far learn how best to express their condolences and can conveniently make memorial donations.
