On the next edition of Fiber Hooligan (03/17/14) my guest will be Mary Colucci.
Since the mid-1990s, Mary Colucci has served as the Executive Director of the Craft Yarn Council (CYC), a nonprofit trade association that represents major yarn resources, needle/hook manufacturers, publishers, and consultants to the yarn industry. In that capacity she oversees all educational and promotional campaigns for the industry association, as well as monitors consumer research and retailer initiatives. She is also Executive Director of the Warm Up America! Foundation, one of the industry’s leading charities.
Prior to joining the CYC, she was president of CM Communications, a consulting firm, which was formed in 1988 with her business partner Christina Holmes. They handled a wide variety of consulting assignments, including product development and product launches, market research and numerous public relations campaigns.
From 1975 to 1988, Colucci served as Executive Director of The National Needlework Association, another industry group. She organized an extensive network of trade shows, education and public relations programs. Prior to joining TNNA, she was editor of Sew Business, an industry trade magazine.

Mikala is a 2010 graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University with a double Bachelor's degree in Applied Communications and Art. She financed 100% of her college education through scholarships and grants. She competed in the Miss Oklahoma USA pageant in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 as Miss Pottawatomie County. While in college, her along with friends launched CYC Volunteer Ministries and started serving in the Christian concert promotions. Her and her husband Aaron have been blessed to work with artists such as Casting Crowns, Disciple, The Winter Jam Tour Spectacular, and The Rock and Worship Road show. In 2011, she started a professional career with the Boy Scouts of America as a District Executive. November of 2011, she married her husband Aaron and soon started full time ministry. Over the last year, they've resided in Stratford Oklahoma while traveling the country pursuing music ministry. Her mother and pastor are her biggest inspirations in life because of their love towards God and also serving others.

With over 25 years of experience, ranging from program development and implementation to administrative management and financial development, Kimberly’s approach is mission driven and based on the needs of the community she serves.
During Kimberly’s tenure at Chicago Youth Centers ABC Polk Bros Center, the College Readiness Program has assisted 80 West Side Chicago students to attend and succeed in college. The high school graduation rate of students in the program is 100%; college attendance rate is 90%; college retention rate is 80%. Under Kim’s leadership, the Service Learning and Community Gardening programs have been recognized by The National Youth Gardening Association (2013), Muhammad Ali Peace Center (2014), Martin Richard Bridge Builder Foundation (2015), and GenerationOn – A Points of Light Foundation (2013, 2014).
