TBI Author Neil Ligon - Dream Catchers with Les Paul
He resides in Atlanta, Georgia. He is the Director of Advocacy for the Emory Chapter of the Brain Injury Association of Georgia, sits on the Support Group Liaison Committee for the Brain Injury Association of Georgia, and serves as a peer visitor for the Brain Injury Peer Visitor Association. Through these endeavors, he hopes to provide others who have suffered a brain injury and their caregivers with access to the resources available to help them in the recovery process, while working to provide anyone interested with information to help them better understand these complex injuries.
When they found the car, the engine was cold. I was barely conscious next to that deserted interstate, suspended by my seatbelt and trapped inside the twisted cage that had been my car, when the new reality, one which paid little regard to my willingness to acknowledge it, found me. My car’s slide on the wet interstate road and the rolls down the hill had left nothing, not my car, my mind, or my identity, whole. Those who supported me were the ones to learn the first lessons of survival, demonstrated by plastic surgeons, breathing machines, and intubation tubes. I didn’t see those days. For me, the hard ones were to follow.
I suffered a severe traumatic brain injury that August day, and the months of hospitals and rehabilitation that followed were just the beginning of my fight. Saddled with a life that I didn’t expect and weak in ways I couldn’t understand, I fought, I surrendered, I collapsed, I denied, and I failed. But I survived. Awake in the DREAM Radio with Steve Beckow
Steve Beckow is founder of the Golden Age of Gaia (formerly the 2012 Scenario), Achieving World Peace Now, and several other blog and websites and a member of the InLight Radio group, founded by Graham Dewyea. He lives in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. He attended the University of British Columbia, Carelton University, and the University of Toronto, graduating with a Masters degree in Canadian History. Steve is a member of Mensa Canada. He studied in three Ph.D. programs but was uncomfortable remaining within disciplinary boundaries or paradigms. One dissertation was rejected as being outside his chosen field. Another proposal (on enlightenmment as the purpose of life) was rejected as being outside the university’s paradigm of empirical materialism.
Steve has written perhaps 30 books and a few hundred articles. He has created websites on enlightenment, the common ground of spirituality, life on the spirit planes, global gender persecution, automation, the truth of 9/11, the dangers of depleted uranium, and the Ascension scenario. All but one of his books and articles are available without cost and may be reposted freely.
His spiritual disciplines included Gestalt, encounter groups, spiritualism, the est Training, rebirthing, Zen, Vipassana meditation, and Enlightenment Intensives.
In 1977, Steve had an out-of-body experience which dissipated the fear of death. In 1987, he experienced a vision of the total journey of an individual soul from God to God, which demonstrated to him that the purpose of life was enlightenment.
