    Ka’ramuu Kush, writer/director of “And then…”, launches his, INDIEGOGO $100,000 crowdfund campaign for his feature film debut, as the FREAK takes you.


    We’re featuring an Encore presentation of “And Then” by Karamu Kush live at the New School back in August 2013. This show is a live program at The New School with filmmakers Ka’ramuu Kush and Sean O’Halloran, from the film, “And Then”, a 30-minute film which is a coming-of-womanhood story that deals with one woman's confrontation of issues surrounding body image, communication and the psychology of sex. It is for adults only.

    Ka'ramuu Kush, winner of the Shadow & Act Filmmaker Challenge, is a graduate of the New School University with a BFA in Writing and the Arts, as well as an MFA in Theatre Directing / Classical Drama from Sarah Lawrence College and an MFA in Film Directing from the AFI Conservatory. His AFI thesis film SALVATION ROAD garnered awards from DGA, FUJIFILM, THE CAUCUS FOUNDATION and numerous others before it's premiere on HBO.

    Recap of “TELL IT LIKE IT IS” series at Film Society of Lincoln Center


    This week’s show will highlight some of the most significant issues and themes that became apparent throughout the 2 week Creatively Speaking Film Series at Lincoln Center. We will also hear from audience members and young filmmakers and scholars as to what they feel was the importance of this series.


    Co-host for this week’s show is artist/educator and cultural critic, Malika Leigh Whitney.


    Malika Leigh Whitney (Co-Hosting) Malika Leigh Whitney, Storytelling, Theater, and Creative Writing--Reverend Whitney is Artistic Director of Pickney Productions, an arts and education consortium. As a performing artist she has appeared extensively on stage, television and in film. Reverend Whitney is a familiar voice to radio listeners as a producer and host for many years on WBAI Radio. An acclaimed author of the book, Bob Marley, Reggae King of the World, she has travelled extensively throughout the Caribbean, Africa, Central and South America. Her commitment as a community activist and advocate is exemplified through work with special needs populations, youth at risk, seniors and notably in support of the displaced Gulf residents impacted by Hurricane Katrina.

    Alexandra Salazar – co-host/producer is a New York based Latin activist working for Creatively Speaking on the Air and Film Series. She is also a full time student at The New School, where she is majoring in literature and philosophy.


    Brittney Johns is a Masters of Science in Media Management student at The New School for Public Engagement, School of Media Studies. Her passion is to educate people about the social injustice plaguing our culture. 


    Iman Ward is a Southern California native and a recent graduate from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in the Studio acting program. She is an experienced stage performer and currently a student at The New School for Public Engagement as an undergraduate student. 


    Peta Mni attends The New School for Public Engagement in the BA/MA Media Studies program having previously studied film production at Columbia College Chicago. Since leaving Columbia, he has worked extensively across the U.S. in the field of Educational Multimedia.


    Sifiso Khanyile is a spokesperson for the Association for Transformation in Film & TV and is currently working as the Johannesburg producer for ABC News (America). After studying Film & TV at Monash University, Khanyile directed Spiderman and Romeo (2008), short-listed and shown at numerous local and international festivals, BBC and Sechuan TV in China.
