Why Pete Carroll Made the Right Call in Super Bowl 49

    in Sports

It was a wild and wacky week 1 in the NFL.  The Core Show is going react to it all including the St. Louis Rams stuffing Marshawn Lynch on 4th and 1 to secure a victory against the Seattle Seahawks.  We'll look back at the Karma Bowl between Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston and explain why it wasn't a big surprise that Mariota took round 1 between the two most recent Heisman Trophy winners.  We'll analyze the Dallas Cowboys snatching victory from the jaws of defeat with a thrilling comeback against the New York Giants. Then, there's The Rex is Back Bowl in which Rex Ryan lead the Buffalo Bills to an upset over contending Indianapolis Colts  We'll also examine which injury is more devastating:  The Terrell Suggs Achilles heal injury or the Dez Bryant foot injury.

NFL week 2 preview including the Seahawks vs Green Bay Packers.  Could Seattle begin the season 0-2?

We'll pick the "Play You Didn't See Coming" Play of the Week along with the "See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil" Forgettable play of the week.

Melvin Kennedy of Mel SportsInvestments will come on the show to talk about his business and how it helps sports investors capitalize on the games.  We'll also convene a special panel from the LA RAMS vs St Louis Rams to discuss the latest developments in NFL2LA.

  • Talking in Circles: Dover Review; Theriault crash - SAFER Barriers

    in Sports

On today's episode of Talking in Circles, we talk about the running of the AAA 400 at Dover International Speedway. That was the end of the Challenger Round of the Chase, and four drivers have been eliminated. One of the drivers eliminated was Jimmie Johnson. We'll break down why the 48 team was eliminated, and talk about what the 12 that advanced need to do to not get eliminated in the next 3 races.

During the victory celebration for Kevin Harvick, his #4 Chevrolet got into the wall. This raised many eyebrows among his competitors because they're wondering why that car got into the wall and got damage? Were Kevin Harvick and the 4 team trying to cover up something illegal on the rearend of the car? Or was it just a coincidence. We'll talk about that.

Also, the number 78 Furniture Row Racing team was handed a P2 Penalty for something that took place during inspection, prior to Dover. We'll talk about how inconsistent that ruling is, and whether or not we think it was the right call by NASCAR.

With the first round being over, we'll give our predictions of which 8 of the remaining 12 drivers will move on from the Contender Round, and into the Eliminator Round (round 3) of the Chase. The races in this round are Charlotte, Kansas and Talladega. Last season, this round eliminated some note worthy names including Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Will we see this happen again?

One of the hot topics coming out of this weekend was the crash by NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver, Austin Theriault. Theriault, a driver for Brad Keselowski Racing, got tagged by his teammate, Tyler Reddick, and sent into the outside wall, head on. The wall that Theriault hit didn't have a SAFER Barrier, and his wreck resulted in a fracture in his lower back. We'll talk about why there still isn't SAFER barriers around these tracks...

NFC West - NFL Preview; can Russell Wilson lead Seahawks to a third Super Bowl

    in Sports

Pete Carroll will never dodge his play call, in the Super Bowl.  However, there are more important things on Carroll's mind, as the 2015 season starts.  The biggest concern is how will the Seahawks win the NFC West, for a third consecutive year.  The St. Louis Rams have used additional picks, from the trade with Washington to stockpile young talented players. Often injured Sam Bradford is no longer the quarterback.  The Rams traded for Nick Foles, who is coming off a broken collarbone.  However, the addition of Todd Gurley could solidify the running game.

Carson Palmer is returning from a knee injury, in Arizona.  He hopes that he can continue were he left off last season.  The Cardinals defense willed them to a playoff berth, after a carousel of quarterbacks stood behind center.  Still a major concern is running back.  Andre Ellington is the starter, but can he handle the workload?

The fiasco with Jim Harbaugh is over, and the San Francisco 49ers have moved on.  A suprise move to many, they named defensive line coach Jim Tomsula, head coach.  Nothing went right for the 49ers one year ago.  Chris Boreland looked to be a budding star but opted to retire, after one season.  Defensively, they are going to have to try and find an indentiy.  Offensively, long time running back Frank Gore has departed.  This opens the door for Carlos Hyde to be the primary back.  Will Tomsula work with Colin Kaepernick, or try to make him a pocket passer.  There are many questions surrounding the 49ers?

Finally, Jimmy Graham is the answer inside the red zone, according to Seattle Seahawk fans.  After back to back Super Bowl appearences, the Seahawks traded for one of the best tight ends, in the NFL.  The biggest loss is the person whom they traded, Max Unger.  Russell Wilson is a scrambling quarterback, but you still need to protect him.
