Guest will be: Denise Cohn- CEO Dogs Deserve Better
Denise have been rescuing dogs for over 30 years. Denise was a foster Mom for a GA rescue for many years and had as many as 42 foster dogs at one time. Typical was 20. Denise has five rescue dogs of her own. Currently Denise is the CEO of Dogs Deserve Better in Smithfield, VA. DDB takes in the abused, neglected, chained and penned dogs from all over the country. These dogs have seen the worse of humans. They have suffered from no shelter, sometimes no food, riddled with tick borne disease and most have heartworm as well. They have no socializtion with humans and are desperate for affection. To watch them blossom into the dogs they have always wanted to be is heart warming and simply amazing. The transformations are spectacular. Unlike most rescues, The VA shelter is actually a home. They don' t have kennels. The dogs live in the house, with the staff, and learn how to be a 'normal' dog. After they receive the medical treatment they need and are socialized, they are adopted to new homes and a family of their own.
Dogs Deserve Better reside in the former Michael Vick dog fighting compound. His property has been transformed into a rescue shelter. The dogs get their baths in the luxurious jacuzzis.
Dogs Deserve Better is a non-profit which survives solely on donations. All donations are tax deductible.
Dogs Deserve Better, First Place Winner of the Chase Pet Protector Award, is a voice for chained and penned dogs, whose sadness speaks only through the eyes.

Guests will be : Barbara Lovett - Administrator of Save Nosey NOW on Facebook & Animal Rights Advocate & helped develop a website for Nosey the elephant www.savenoseynow.org. Also joining us : Robin Vitulle- Animal Rights Advocate & Administrator on Save Nosey Now.
Nosey the elephant needs all of our help now for her to retire to a sanctuary. Nosey has been alleged to have health problems, including but not limited to arthritis, chronic diarrhea, degenerative joint disease, and long- standing, unmanaged hyperkeratosis. Forced to perform, much of Nosey’s life has been spent performing in circuses across the United States. On top of elephant rides and confined living spaces, this can cause further stress to her health and psychological wellbeing.
Forced to Give Rides- Despite her obvious health ailments, Nosey is forced to give elephant rides in between performances. This causes further strain for her arthritis.
Exposure to Extreme Temperatures- Nosey is exposed to extreme temperatures while on the road, traveling and performing through locations such as Texas during the summer months. She travels in a badly ventilated trailer and performs in heat as high as 100 degrees.
Violations of the Animal Welfare Act: Nosey’s owner has been cited by the USDA for 30 direct violations and over 200 citations to the Animal Welfare Act.

Guest will be: Michael Webermann - Executive Director of FARM -Farm Animal Rights Movement
Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM) is a 501(c)(3) national non-profit organization working to end the use of animals for food through public education and grassroots activism. We believe in the inherent self-worth of animals, as well as environmental protection and enhanced public health.
FARM’s mission is to end the use of animals for food. In support of this mission, we operate on several levels.
On the grassroots level, which accounts for the majority of our efforts, we engage likely target audiences, according to their interests, and nudge them along the vegan path. Behind the scenes, we develop resources that make the vegan lifestyle more “doable.” We also support the animal rights movement and grassroots groups around the world.
FARM is funded primarily by contributions from individuals who care about animal rights, human health, and environmental integrity.
FARM grew out of the Vegetarian Information Service, which was formed in 1976 to disseminate information on the benefits of plant-based eating on consumer health, animal protection, and environmental integrity.
FARM was officially launched as an animal rights organization in July 1981, along with other groups forming the modern US animal rights movement, at the "Action For Life" Conference in Allentown (PA). The conference brought seasoned leaders of the established vegetarian movement together with animal rights advocates searching for a national organizational outlet for their passion.
