Mere Christianity: Book Two - Chapter One

Mere Christianity Book Two: What Christians Believe - Chapter One: The Rival Conceptions of God

Tonight we discuss rival conceptions of God, where does Christianity agree and disagree with the other major world religions.  Do Christians have to believe that every other religion has gotten it completely wrong?  We discuss some of the other major world religions including Pantheism vs. Christianity, and what Lewis had to say on the subject.  One of Lewis' most famous quotes comes from this chapter when he discusses the idea of an "unjust" vs. "just" universe.

    Mere Christianity - Chapter Three

    in Christianity

Join Jared, Byron and Brandon as we discuss C.S. Lewis' classic work, Mere Christianity.  Tonight we are discussing Book One: Chapter Three - The Reality of the Law.  In this chapter, Lewis continues to make his case for the reality of the Law of Human Nature.  That it is a very real law that we can't escape or explain away.  A law that, "must somehow or other be a real thing - a thing that is really there, not made up by ourselves.  Lewis continues to make his case with a few analogies and we discuss which ones we find the most compelling.

*We had some slight technical difficulties at the end of the show, but chose to leave them in there.  Sorry for any confusion it may have caused, we are still getting the hang of these fancy computers!!

Mere Christianity - Chapter Five: Part Two

    in Christianity

We finish our discussion on Chapter Five of Book One: We Have Cause to Be Uneasy.  Lewis continues to address his critics that say he "tricked" them into a discussion about Christianity, which he explains he did not.  He never even mentioned the God of the Bible up to this point, and in fact has just been addressing the reality of the world around us and where that leads.

Mere Christianity - Chapter Four: Part Two

    in Christianity

Join Byron, Brandon and Jared as we continue through Chapter Four of Mere Christianity.  In Part Two we take a look at the final three paragraphs of the chapter, and what can we learn about man given the fact that we are men.  Does the universe just happen to be, or is there a reason for it?  What lies behind the Law of Nature that we have been discussing the last few weeks?  If something exists behind this Law, what is it like?

Mere Christianity - Preface: Part One

    in Christianity

Join Brandon, Byron and Jared as they begin an audio commentary to C.S. Lewis' classic work, Mere Christianity.  Our hope is to offer our thoughts going through the entire book over the next several months.  Tonight we discuss the first half the preface to the book in which Lewis offers an explanation for why he wrote the book, and his attempt to, "expound 'mere' Christianity, which is what it is and what it was long before I was born and whether I like it or not."  We discuss the humility that Lewis wrote with in his honest attempt to "explain and defend the belief that has been common to nearly all Christians at all times.".

Mere Christianity - Preface: Part Two

    in Christianity

Join Brandon, Byron and Jared as they continue their audio commentary to C.S. Lewis' classic work, Mere Christianity.  In this episode we finish our look at the Preface of the book and what exactly is the H.C.F. that Lewis refers to?  We discuss Lewis' reluctancy to discuss issues which he didn't know about and the objections some had with his use of the word Christian.  Who is a Christian, who isn't, and who is to decide?  Lewis uses the history of the word, "gentlemen" to show how words can spoil over time.  Brandon issues a challenge to the listeners as well about how we interact with those who have differing beliefs than ours, and how we should carry ourselves in discussing those issues.

Uncompromized Christianity Now in Jesus is Here

    in Religion

Uncompromized Christianity -- personally God-conscious Christians now in Jesus Christ here with us in His Spirit of Truth !! hosted by Brother Dave, a Spirit of truth-led Jesusonian Christian

From the Fifth Epochal Revelation of Truth:

195:9.2 But paganized and socialized Christianity stands in need of new contact with the uncompromised teachings of Jesus; it languishes for lack of a new vision of the Master’s life on earth. A new and fuller revelation of the religion of Jesus is destined to conquer an empire of materialistic secularism and to overthrow a world sway of mechanistic naturalism. Earth is now quivering on the very brink of one of its most amazing and enthralling epochs of social readjustment, moral quickening, and spiritual enlightenment.

Jesus' true gospel is the loving Fatherhood of God and the perfecting brotherhood of all mankind ! All humans are now divinely beloved sons of God ! Love and serve all humans as God so wills !

We are sincerely dedicated to Spirit Unity not intellectual Uniformity. Our God-seeking nature leads us to Unify on spiritual Values and shared Goals, and not only tolerate different beliefs or un-beliefs, but with free will dignity honor to be led in God's Spirit to treat them as the divinely beloved Children of God that they are !

Truth-seekers and Truth-finders should find value in our shows and on my comprehensive website http://www.purechristians.org/  (or, same website)  http://www.ledbyjesus.org The text on this show and more is on my website. in Christianity

Jared, Brandon and Byron continue their paragraph by paragraph breakdown of C.S. Lewis' Mere Christianity.  Tonight we take a look at the 1st half of Chapter Four: What Lies Behind the Law.  We discuss the two major explanations for the universe and this law of nature: Materialist & Religious.  We discuss the role of science in explaining the way that things are and can science explain the universe?  We discuss science as the official religion of atheism and the similarities between religion and science.
