The youngest of four siblings, J-oH was born December 29, 1984 in Washington DC. J-oH did not grow up in the ideal situation but his mother made the best of it and worked several jobs to support the family. His father played a role in the beginning but by the age of 4 he began to fade away. J-oH’s mother was his world and was always there to believe in him. Motown became J-oH’s life and R&B became his sprit. He grew up listening to classical, Motown, rock and soft rock, as well as Hip Hop. When his mom passed in November of 1993, when J-oH was 9 years old his father attempted to re-enter his life with no success.
J-oH knew that music was his future when he first heard Boogiemonsters’ “Recognized Thresholds of Negative Stress”. To him music was his means to escape and vent about his struggles and what was going on in his life at the moment. J-oH’s first recorded song was a compilation of tracks inspired by his family. It was from this point on that J-oH never put down the pen. Throughout the years J-oH’s rough upbringing caught up with him and J-oH found himself in and out of jail. J-oH knew he had a gift when it came to writing but it wasn’t until he did time up state that he was able to focus on and grow his craft. After focusing on honing is craft J-oH came out with his new sound and released a tack entitled "Guide Me Like Harmony".J-oH’s new sound was a reflection of his growth and maturity into adulthood. The man with many styles, a chameleon so to speak, J-oH has come a long way.
J-oH decided to team up with other musically inspired friends to form a team named V.A.B. (VA Bullies) Oh, and if you're wondering why J-oH is his name, it stems back to 2000 when he would battle leaving the audience saying “ooohh." He evetually began to be introduced as J-oH.
Listen to the Christian Authors on Tour (CAOT) Blog Talk Radio Show on Friday, 11/20 at 2 p.m. (EST) for a LIVE interview with Christian author, Benjamin Francis.
In October 2009, Benjamin Francis was arrested and hit with many charges after his co-defendant told on him. Francis wrote a letter that led to his own charge of contracting a murder and witness tampering, armed robbery and handgun in commission of felony charges. He was put in solitary confinement after the jail officials opened his letter. It was at this point that Francis broke down and lost all hope of ever being free again. In his broken state, Franicis cried out to God, asking Him to change him. Francis also promised God that if He got him out of this predicament, then he would serve God with his life. Lockdown in His Word, Francis' first book, shares the story of how it all began and how God's spirit has forever changed Francis to be God's servant. His second book titled, The Quaran, and this Servant, is also available for purchase.
