This Thursday on Fieldstone Common we will speak with author Christian McBurney about The Rhode Island Campaign: The First French and American Operation in the Revolutionary War.
On July 29, 1778, a powerful French naval squadron sailed confidently to the entrance of Narragansett Bay. Its appearance commenced the first joint French and American campaign of the Revolutionary War. The new allies’ goal was to capture the British garrison at Newport, Rhode Island. With British resolve reeling from the striking patriot victory at Saratoga the previous autumn, this French and American effort might just end the war.
The Rhode Island Campaign: The First French and American Operation of the Revolutionary War unravels one of the most complex and multi-faceted events of the war, one which combined land and sea strategies and featured controversial decisions on both sides. Many prominent patriots participated, including Nathanael Greene, Marquis de Lafayette, John Hancock, and Paul Revere. Relying on in-depth research from American, French, British, and German original sources, author Christian McBurney has written the most authoritative book on this fascinating episode in American history.
CHRISTIAN M. McBURNEY, a graduate of Brown University, is a partner in a Washington, DC, law firm. He is the author of several books and articles on early Rhode Island history, including A History of Kingston, Rhode Island, 1700–1900 and British Treatment of Prisoners During the Occupation of Newport, 1776–1779.

The purpose of this session is to reinforce that both Christian doctrine and Christian experience are fundamental to spiritual growth. However, it is important to realize that once these are established, believers are to go on or go forward. Experience and learning are a continuing process in Christian development.
Do I need to have a website if my business is small or if the product I’m selling or the service I’m offering is not online-based?
In this tech-savvy world where children get to learn how to operate a tablet computer even before they learn how to read, it may come as a surprise to know that there are still small business owners out there who miss out on one of the most powerful marketing tools available to them.
I somehow understand the hesitation. The World Wide Web can be a labyrinth for beginner Christian entrepreneurs. It’s challenging enough to start a business; having to learn technical things can be an added stress.
But you don’t need to be techy in order to establish your business presence online. The key is in knowing the basics and finding the right people to do it for you.
In this episode we talk to author and speaker Holly Nelson, owner of 2C Development Group, a website development company. Holly’s business has been around since 1996, creating sites that convert visitors into customers.
Holly will share with us important information website-less business owners need to know before sourcing for a company to help you build your company website.
Tough Talk Christian Radio hosted by Tony Gambone with special guest Jan Coverstone and John Hayden:
Jan Coverstone - I am a pastor and have founded two churches. I am a martial arts grandmaster and have my own unique style of martial arts. I own my own martial arts studio which has been open for 35 years. I am an author. I was asked to leave the first church I founded so I devoted the next 20 years to martial arts. I founded JC's martial arts in 1982. The initials are mine but they also refer to Jesus Christ. Martial arts are a long term discipleship program where you teach students to reach a physical level and also strive to reach that level in every area of your life. I never left the ministry the focus was changed.
John Hayden is a certified fitness professional that has a wide range of experience training clients such as professional athletes, adults, youth, and children. as a former collegiate athlete, John’s passion for fitness and wellness has been an integral part of his life. His approach to fitness is humble. Stay fit to SERVE others. (Galatians 5:13) John is a former collegiate athlete, father, husband, dog owner, and a guy who loves watching Indiana basketball almost as much as he loves the great outdoors. He has a BA degree in exercise science from Anderson (Indiana) University, and enjoys using his degree and experience to help others discover how they can “connect the dots” between fitness, their hobbies, and a life devoted to service in the name of Christ. He is a forward thinker, extrovert, leader, follower of Christ, and the creator of GODFIT.
