Sex traffcking in Atlanta, yes Atlanta is the number 1 city for human sex trafficking. We are a Georgia Non for profit committed to rescue, recovery and education
Sex trafficking has become one of the major social issues of the day here in the U.S. It is not new or even on the rise, but attention as an issue, particularly as a pro-life issue, has in the last 10 years has come into greater prominence. This is a heavy topic we will discuss today on TLFR.
One of our guests today is Laura Farrar from The Covering House in St. Louis. The Covering House is a Christian ministry that specifically aids in helping victims of sex trafficking escape and find refuge away from their traffickers. It is often a ministry fraught with danger, and Laura will help us understand what women and victims need the most in fighting this exploitation and devaluing of women.
Also, the parents of a missing woman named Phoenix Coldon will be our guests today as they discuss the circumstances of her disappearance. Lawrence and Goldia Coldon share with us their suspicions that their daughter, who was in college at the time she disappeared, is a kidnapping victim who is possibly being trafficked presently. They ask the public's help in recovering their daughter and restoring their family. You can find more information on their search on their facebook page, Missing Phoenix Coldon.

Listen to "Joey", a security guard who worked nights in Atlantic City, NJ in the late 1980's, speak about the sex trafficking victims he saw who were not only paying off the cops - but the cops were the pimps! Hear about the "conflict of interest" with these victims calling the National Trafficking Hotline that's connected with law enforcement - when law enforcement is part of her trafficking network she's trying to get away from. This man saw pay-offs, rip-offs, and everything that happens in the late evening hours of this major city. Joey explains how his hands were tied - knowing that if he tried to report what he saw that he might wind up being framed himself by these cops. How do you go to Internal Affairs when even Serpico had to finally leave the country because of his fight to try and clean up just the 63rd Precinct of NY? But these women can't go to Switzerland - they have nowhere to go - not even the shelters that the police know about when your pimp is the police. This interviews explains why our hotline at www.sexworkersanonymous.net is so vital for these victims. If you're trying to get away from a trafficking ring with law enforcement is involved - we can help.

Host Shannon Fisher moderated a panel of experts including prosecutors, law enforcement officers, legislators who have worked to enact laws to combat human trafficking, victim’s rights advocates and survivors of the sex trade – all of whom share stories about the horrors they have witnessed and experienced. This broadcast, a partnership between the Authors on the Air Global Radio Network LLC. and UniteWomen.org, shines a light on this topic that is usually kept in the shadows.
Few are aware that there is a growing human trafficking problem right here in the United States. The average of the girls being sold in the sex trade in America is 12 – and who they are might surprise you! Children are being bought and sold in our own neighborhoods, often by our trusted neighbors. Human trafficking is rapidly becoming our nation’s most profitable underground industry. This $32 billion “industry” enslaves more than 300,000 underage girls (and boys) each year in America, selling them into forced prostitution. Drugs, weapons and other contraband are sold once, for a one time profit. Humans can be sold again and again for their bodies to be used and abused – both for sex and for labor.
There is an epidemic of modern-day slavery happening right under our noses, and most people in America are completely unaware of its existence! Our experts share the common indicators of predators and tips on how to identify the signs of human trafficking.
Women's rights leader, Shannon Fisher, hosts the weekly show, The Authentic Woman, on the Authors on the Air Global Radio Network, which ownes this podcast.
