The young man had been dealing with a number of issues and was on the verge of taking his life. (Chicago, Illinois) –December 4, 2013 --The annual International Revolutionary Day (IRD) commemorating the life of Chairman Fred Hampton, Illinois Chapter Black Panther Party will begin at 12:00 noon (2337 West Monroe) with filming a reenactment of the historical Panther led people's procession when people convened from all the world December 4, 1969 to see for themselves what really happened at the "Massacre on Monroe". On this date 44 years ago, two Black Panther Party leaders were assassinated by the U.S. government and the Chicago Police Department.

red Hampton Jr. has a long family history of activism for African American rights. His Father, Fred Hampton was involved in the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and later became the leader of the Chicago chapter of the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense. He was murdered in a raid conducted by the Chicago Police Department and the FBI. Fred Hampton Jr. followed in the footsteps of his father. In 1990 he became the President of the International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement, which is an organization created to ensure democratic rights for African American people. In 1993, he was convicted of arson resulting after the nationwide protests of the 1992 beating of Rodney King, and was sentenced to eighteen years in prison. In 2001 he was paroled. Today Fred is the Chairman and founder of the Prisoners of Conscience Committee (POCC).

On January 21, 2013 at approximately 4 PM, Chairman Fred Hampton Jr. and three of his comrades were trailed by police into the Target shopping center in Emeryville, just outside of West Oakland. Initially, they were stopped by two Oakland Police vehicles (IN EMERYVILLE). The police flashed their lights and ordered the passengers to both put their hands up and roll down the windows. As this was occurring, another 10-12 police cars arrived and blocked off the entire parking lot.

Gary is the Founder and Chairman Emeritus of the Cold War Museum, a 501(c)(3) charity, which he founded in 1996 to honor Cold War veterans and preserve Cold War history. In this capacity he created mobile exhibit on the Cold War and U-2 Incident which has been exhibited in museums worldwide, coordinated donations activities totaling over $3.0M million in financial, artifacts, and in-kind donations, and negotiated building space at Vint Hill Farms, a former Cold War era Army communication base, located 40 miles from Washington, DC.
He is currently, Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee for the Cold War Theme Study and is working with the National Park Service and leading Cold War experts to identify historical Cold War sites for commemorating, interpreting, and preservation.
