    Right now, it's the wild, wild West in this industry. So many certifications and organizations trying to manage those certified and uncertified and newly certified instructors, while simultaneously branding themselves as the leader in group fitness innovation. Who is advocating for the instructor? We must advocate for ourselves. We must agree on our own standards. We must work together to build a product that is 'as sold/ as delivered'

    Guest: Lady G talks about fitness and house music

    House music is what the world and group fitness needs.


    Why? Because music is the key of movement. Popular fitness formats depend on the music to get people up and grooving; and for many instructors, music is our lifeline to a great class experience.  


    What is house music? Well there are many interpretations. Listen to the mix playing in the background. No, these mixes do not use 32-count phrasing or 8-count blocks as in professionally-mixed aerobic music. Yet, these mixes naturally flow this type of rhythmic musical phrasing making it ideal for instructor cueing.  


    Lady G is our special guest because she is one of the few that has experienced the fusion of house music and fitness in the form of Rhythm Walking. Rhythm Walking is fueled by house music. 


    Lady G is also a fixture of the Atlanta house music scene and is dedicated to spreading the love of house music far and wide. She also walks her talk, always out on the dance floor. Listen in while she talks about the power of house music.

    Gerald's Story: Nursing home and drug abuse of an elderly man

    in Family

    Patrice Gilgan joins us this evening to expose the abuse and drugging of her father at the hands of doctors and nursing home workers in two different facilities in Orange County, California.  The first instance of abuse both physical and with drugs occured at Irvine Cottage Board and Care where Gerald had been sent to recover from brain surgery.  Gerald was drugged within 24 hours of admittance to the home with massive doses of Haldol, Seroqel and overdosed on morphine.  There was no prescription for the morphine.  Cottage Board and Care is operated by St Joseph Hospice, a Catholic enterprise.


    At a second facility, Villa Valencia Skilled Nursing, (a St Michael Hospice and another Catholic owned  enterprise), Gerald was given 7 different drugs.  None of these drugs were to be used on brain injured or individuals suffering from dementia.  When Gerald was finally freed from this facility and hospitalized again, it took more than two weeks for him to respond due to the massive drug overload in his system.

    Gerald Gilgan was a retired New York City Fire Fighter.  This man did not deserve this callous treatment.  No one does.  Yet it happens to the elderly every day here in the US.
