Carolina Panthers put perfect record on the line against the Green Bay Packers

    in Sports

The Carolina Panthers are one of four undefeated teams entering week nine in the NFL season. The Green Bay Packers were dominated on national television by the Denver Broncos, last Sunday. The loss was the first for the Packers as they travel to Carolina. They only passed for 77 yards and rushed for 90; however 31 of those yards came from the legs of Aaron Rodgers. The Bronco offense carved up the Packers defense for 500 yards.

After being punched in the face, the Packers face a tough test in Carolina. The Panthers rank ninth in yards allowed (342.6) and seventh in points allowed (19.4). Evan will tell you that the sack statistic is over-rated, and that could be the case for the Panthers. Although tied for eigth, in the league with 20 sacks it seems like there is always a Panther pressuring a quarterback. Rodgers was harrassed from the start, in Denver, and the offensive line needs to play better. Mike McCarthy and Tom Clements will have to find a game plan that will get the receivers into space.

The Packers defense looked confused at times and need to concentrate on some fundamental defense. They have struggled against the zone read, and Cam Newton is a mamouth of man when he runs. In one week, the defense will need to figure out how to play discipline defense and realize their gap responsibility. The Packers defense is aggressive and have allowed other teams to look good when they miss tackles. The Panthers lost Kelvin Benjamin in the preseason and their leading receiver is tight end Greg Olsen (33 receptions, 518 yards, 4 touchdowns). Ted Ginn, Jr. is the Panthers leading receiver with 20 receptions. In comparision, the Packers have three receivers with more receptions. The Panthers will try to establish the running game with James Stewart, who has rushed for 505 yards and three touchdowns.

Packers grounded in Denver, fall to 6-1 while Broncos improve to 7-0.

    in Sports

The hype turned out to be better than the game. This was only the fourth time, in NFL history, that teams with 6-0 or better records faced off. Both the Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos entered the game 6-0. The Broncos dominated the Packers enroute to a 29-10 victory. The Packers had cut the lead to 7 after a Mason Crosby field goal, but that was as close as they were going to get. Denver dominated the trenches on both sides of the ball. This resulted in outgaining the Packers 500-140 in total yards. C.J. Anderson rushed for 101 yards, and Peyton Manning passed for 340 yards. Demarius Thomas was the primary target hauling in eight passes for 168 yards. The dominating Bronco defense even provided some points recording a safety.

  • Falcons fall from land the land of unbeaten in NFL, we recap week 6 in the NFL

    in Sports

The Atlanta Falcons have fallen from the land of unbeaten, but five teams still have zero losses. On a national stage, the Falcons had a chance to prove to America that they were for real. The Saints regained their magic at home by defeating the Falcons 31-21.

The New England Patriots continue to rule the AFC East. Deflate gate came up again as the Patriots traveled to Indianapolis. Different season but same result as Tom Brady passed for 312 yards and controlled much of the game. Andrew Luck returned from a shoulder injury to pass for 312 yards and three touchdowns. The final momentum swing came when the Patriots stopped the Colts on a fake punt that gave them the ball at the Colt 35 yard line. Six plays later the Patriots had a 34-21 lead.

Denver is 6-0 thanks in part to a terrific defense. Peyton Manning threw three interceptions and Karlos Dansby returned one of those for a touchdown. Cleveland fought hard for 60 minutes to force overtime, and had a chance to win in overtime. After a Manning interception, the Bronco defense sacked Josh McCown twice to force a punt.  Manning then drove the Broncos down the field for the game winning field goal.

Another fourth quarter collapse cost the Seattle Seahawks. This time the Carolina Panthers overcame a nine point deficit as Cam Newton found Greg Olson in the end zone with 32 seconds left. Both touchdown drives in the fourth quarter covered 80 yards for the 5-0 Panthers. The loss drops the Seahawks to 2-4 as they travel to San Francisco for a tough divisional match-up on Thursday night.

The Cincinnati Bengals continue to win as they defeated the Buffalo Bills 34-21. There was nothing magical or mystifying about this game other than the Bengals breaking open a close game in the third quarter. The Bengals were leading by three entering the third quarter and then scored on their first three possessions of the second half to build a commanding 34-14 lead.

    Straight Outta Defense

    in Sports

Four games into the year are the Raiders where you expected them to be at 2-2? are they at expectations or are they underhwelming/over whelming?

@oscar9704 Asks- If 49er's, Giants, Warriors & A's can privately finance stadiums, should media ask/ investigate why can't Raiders?

Since Reggie Mckenzie has taken over  @SithRaider asks- "Are the Raiders an improved team or not"

Reggie McKenzie will be fired after this season unless this ONE thing happens, I'll explain

Are the Raiders on the verge of a playoff birth? Is there anything the Raiders can do to be a better team, is it scheme? benching a player, give the ball more to a player?

We'll discuss Raiders vs Broncos match up. What do the Raiders HAVE to do to beat the Bronco's?

Listen: 2LT Meagan O’Briant, SGT Meghan Raulston, Army ROTC Cadet Ariel McGuirk

    in Military

Listen 24/7 to Bronco Soldiers, 2LT Meagan O'Briant, 325 BSB Mustangs, SGT Meghan Raulston and Army ROTC Cadet Ariel McGuirk talk about their service to our country and the 3BCT 25ID event they organized for Hawaii's Gold Star Children during Military Child Appreciation Month.
The term Gold Star family is a modern reference that comes from the Service Flag. These flags/banners were first flown by families during World War I. The flag included a blue star for every immediate family member serving in the armed forces of the United States, during any period of war or hostilities in which the armed forces of the United States were engaged. If that loved one perished, the blue star was replaced by a gold star. This allowed members of the community to know the price that the family had paid in the cause of freedom.

Today, the nation recognizes the sacrifice that all Gold Star Family members make when a father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, or other loved one is lost in service to the nation
This is a heartwarming interview you don't want to miss.
