Duane Duggan hosts today's discussion with his guest David Sinkey of Boulder Creek Builders. Sinkey is Boulder Creek's principal and co-founder. Boulder Creek Builders builds patio homes and townhomes throughout Colorado. We specialize in energy-efficient, right-sized homes that offer lock and leave functionality and main-floor living.
As well as building fine homes, Boulder Creek takes a different approach to marketing than most builders in that it relies on intimate, face-to-face meetings with potential buyers before it breaks ground for a community.
In our second episode of Basketball Colorado we will take a look at the 5A and 4A boys state basketball tournament.
John McElveen joins host Duane Duggan to discuss new construction in Boulder. John is almost a hometown boy, with 36 years spent here in Boulder. John moved to the area in 1972 after finishing his undergrad degree. John had ideas of attending law school, but those ideas gave way to a real estate career that has now spanned over 30 years.
Early years of bartending at "the Sink on the Hill" and occasional stand-in/print double work for Robin Williams on the Mork & Mindy series gives John unique insights into Boulder (including great stories about the "Old Days" of Boulder).
John and his wife, Derdre, live in one of Boulder's old neighborhoods on the west side of town, and have two young boys as well as a grown son. You can run into John at soccer fields, Little League Baseball diamonds, and at YMCA basketball games, cheering on or coaching his sons' teams.
John's career in local real estate includes 30 years of resale experience in addition to working with several of Boulder's builders and developers on new home projects such as Winding Trail Village and Wonderland Hills in the 1970's. John has also worked with developers on new urban, mixed use and condominium projects that you see in Boulder's downtown now!
Boulder endurance athlete Billy Edwards joins us the night before the Boulder Ironman Triathlon. Billy should be asleep right now but is taking 15 minutes to chat with us about tomorrow's event.
One of the world's most popular triathlon destinations, this beloved Rocky Mountain town now hosts a full-distance race. Welcome to IRONMAN Boulder.
Nestled at the foot of the imposing Flatirons, Boulder, Colorado is already a wildly popular home-base and vacation destination for world-class triathletes. The city's health-conscious culture, near-perfect weather and breathtaking natural environment means it's destined to be an instant favorite on the IRONMAN circuit.
Boulder's robust downtown, with its famous pedestrian-only Pearl Street Mall and idyllic Boulder Creek, will provide families and fans an unforgettable race day as they wait for their loved ones to cross the finish line. From five-star hotels to James Beard award-winning restaurants, Boulder's hotel and dining options are some of the best in the nation.
The race will start at the Boulder Reservoir with a single loop 2.4-mile swim. Once finished in the water, the first transition will start the athletes on a beautiful 112-mile one-loop bike course in the city's vast open space. The bike will loop around Carter Lake and along the eastern plains of the Front Range before ending downtown at Boulder High School.
The two-loop run course is almost entirely on Boulder Creek Trail, winding along the creek and through city parks. Spectators will have multiple opportunities to cheer on the athletes and the last few steps of the day will take athletes up Pearl Street for a triumphant finish.
