Introducing My New Show Boston First After Dark on Black Globe
Huge disadvantages of the fabulously wealthy include no one around with the guts and wit to say, "You're being stupid!" Another, more intractable one is the delusion if you are rich you must be brilliant...in everything.
Over the past decade or so, John Henry has pushed his The Boston Globe and Red Sox to the edge of ruin and seems to have no sense of that. He is the ugly side of capitalism, or one of the ugly sides. He jacked up ballpark/ticket prices to the highest in basebaqll. Likewise, he is huge in expeneive newspaper paywalls and has made both home delivery and online Globe prices the highest in the nation, higher even than papers like the Wall Street Journal and Financial Times. Those two at least give you info to earn you money back and more. The Globe simply relies on its almost monopoly status (there is an asthenic Murdoch-owned tabloid for a weak competitor.)
This past week, Henry blew it again. He's already pared the writing/reporting staff to the nub. Now he went after the delivery contractor, switching to a cheaper vendor. That makes perfect capitalistic sense; bottom line, don't you know. The problem is that the new contractor has already failed elsewhere and certainly plonked here.
Let us consider Henry's empire and whether the delusional rich can ever objectively judge their decisions. I suspect you already know my conclusion.
Plenty of topics to choose from tonight. I will briefly look at last week's GOP Debate and when was decided about future debates with NBC. The President has autorized troops to fight in Syria - is he doing the right thing? I am going to share the first part of a video blog that Professional Wrestler Taryn Terrell did titled "The Beginning of My Journey With Christ". I will save part 2 for tomorrow, but this testimony from a new Christian is too good not to have you hear no matter what the nightly topic is.
All this and lots more on The Ed Boston Podcast.
For the very first time, The Ed Boston Podcast will feature and all Sports night each Saturday at 7 pm eastern. In this premiere podcast, I will look at the sudden and shocking passing of Wrestling Legend Rowdy Roddy Piper. Also, in the wrestling world, Jeff Jarrett is inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame.
In Major League Baseball, the July 31st trading deadline has come and gone and I will look at how that all shook out. Plus I'll look at the current MLB standings where things are if the season was to end today. Finally in the NFL, Quarterbacks Tom Brady and Russell Wilson are in the headlines this week.
Tonight's show will be a grab bag of numerous topics going on in the world. God has been so good to me and who knows where He is going to lead me this week. I have my plan, just like I did last week on Wednesday, but sometimes God changes things and has His Holy Spirit take the wheel. So instead of saying what I'm going to talk about, I will be following my prayed about plan and ....... Where He leads me, I will follow.

God Bless you, all and thank you for listening.
The Orlando Magic dug deep and erased a 14-point second-half deficit to steal a home win from the Boston Celtics, avenging a loss from Friday. The Magic found some hustle and began to resemble the team that stormed through the NBA in December. And it comes just in time as the February schedule is about to get much, much tougher.
On this podcast, I will look at the past episode of Answered Prayers as well as the past episode of Bringing up Bates. The Fox News GOP debate is coming tomorrow and I will preview that along with breaking news on the shooting in Nashville, Tennessee today. All this and more on The Ed Boston Podcast
