Celtics Talk Radio episode 98 The Final Week of the Boston Celtic Season?

    in Sports

Its the final week of the 2014/15 NBA Season. The Celtics have 5 games left on their NBA Schedule and are right in the thick of things in the NBA playoff race. The Celtics since our last show played 4 games 3 which came against teams that they are competing with in the race for the final spots in the Eastern Conference playoff race. The Celtics went on the road and got a 12 point victory over the Hornets down in Charlotte. Then 2 nights later welcomed the Indiana Pacers to TD Garden and defeated them by 13 clinching the season series and the tiebreaker if the 2 teams were to tie for a playoff spot at the end of the season. The Celtics 2 night last lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in a game where they looked great in the 1st half and then looked mediocre in the 2nd half. Then one night later the Celtics defeated the Atlantic Division Champion Raptors up in there own arena. The Celtics also during that time got Jared Sullinger to return to game action after many believed he was done for the season just a couple of months ago. So a 3-1 record in 4 big games plus a Jared Sullinger return a pretty good week overall. So now where do the Celtics stand in the playoff picture. What needs to happen in the final week for the Celtics to make it. Which 2 teams have the advantage right now over the others based on who they are facing in the final week. We will discuss all of that and give you the new magic numbers for each of the teams in this race as well as any important updates on the teams towards the top of the standings that could play a role in the race for the lower seeds. Celtics Talk Radio episode 99 The End of the 2014/15 NBA Regular season has come

    in Sports

Thats right the 82 game regular season in the NBA has finally come to an end. The Celtics started this season as a team that was destined for the NBA lottery. The chances for that destiny being achieved went up when Danny Ainge traded Rajon Rondo to the Dallas Mavericks. Everyone thought for sure this teams destiny was a lock once Ainge traded Jeff Green. The fan's starting talking about going into tank mode for the 2nd season in a row. But instead the Celtics opted to fight in what was a weak Eastern Conference and show the rest of the NBA that they are not far from being able to compete with the NBA'S elite teams despite those teams having all-stars on their roster and Boston having none. The Celtics found themselves in the middle of a 4 team race going into the final week of the NBA regular season for the 7th and 8th spots in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics with no all-star players were in the lead of that 4 team race ahead of 3 teams that everyone thought was a lock for the NBA playoffs before the season started. The Celtics were ahead of a Brooklyn Nets team who had Joe Johnson, Deron Williams and Brook Lopez leading them in their fight for a playoff spot. They were ahead of the Miami Heat who of course did not have Chris Bosh but still had Dwayne Wade, Luol Deng and added Goran Dragic at the trade deadline. They were also ahead of the team that has been one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference the last few seasons along with Miami which is the Indiana Pacers and yet the Pacers had Roy HIbbert and George Hill virtually all season. The Celtics with no Rondo, no Green and while having no Jared Sullinger managed to catch and pass those 3 teams and have the edge going into the final week. So now we will discuss how did the final week end. Did the Celtics do what many thought was impossible and get to the NBA playoffs if so who will they face or are they headed to the lottery again. We recap the season with Adam Lowenstein

Celtics Talk Radio episode 95 March Schedule Madness

    in Sports

The Celtics had just gotten by the toughest 2 games of their March schedule the last time the Celtics Talk Crew was on the air. Since that show the Celtics Schedule has started to lighten up a bit. Since the last show the Celtics have gone on a 3 game road trip facing 2 playoff contending teams in the Pelicans and Heat and facing one lottery bound team in the Orlando Magic. The Celtics also faced the 2nd best team in the western conference which is the Memphis Grizzlies. The Celtics went into their game with the Pelicans this past Friday 2.5 games behind the Heat for the 7th seed and 2 games back of the Hornets for the 8th seed. Over the last week the Celtics as well as the Hornets, Heat and the other 3 teams involved in the battle for the 7th and 8th seeds which are the Nets, Pistons and Pacers were all playing games either against each other or against some of the better teams in the NBA. So there was plenty of oppurtunity for movement in the standings. So did the Celtics move at all? If they did was it up or down? Jamey Burke a Celtics fanatic, kicks connoisseur, and a RedsArmy contributor will join the crew discuss the last week in the Celtics schedule.
