Jan Alpert, the chair of the Records Preservation and Access Committe (RPAC), joins Jane this evening to talk about the organization and its mission to preserve open access to records around the country. Jan will discuss the Genealogists' Declaration of Rights, which was announced at the NGS Conference in Richmond, Virginia in May 2014; what it means to genealogists as records are increasingly being closed to the public; and what we can do to help keep records available to us and maintain privacy as the same time. She'll tell us where the current hot spots around the country are.

It has been a couple of months since my last show, and has we start the fall I thought I would spend a couple of minutes with you to let you know what I have been up to and what my (OUR) future might hold. I started the summer with a reading list of about 13 books and I proud to report a current to read list of 7 different books and 4 that I still have not read but I did read about 13 books
August was spent traveling to /from Texas and of course School started at the end of August.
I have been so involved with some school issues that production has slowed down. However
We did a show last night with Garth Kline and the future of high school electronics.
I have a show Thursday to launch a new Podcasting network hosted by two former students (this will be my third Launch of former student’s podcasting
I have a railroad Museum show Saturday, Future shows in the pipeline? A show with a Vintage Guitar technician, Navajo Code Talkers, TechShop CEO, and Cupcake Girls
I also received about 200 old 78 RPM records that I am trying to track down any stories, history, Value, collectors, and or Music Historians. SO if any of you out there are OLD music Aficionados or has any leads out there please let me know
HAS always the future is bright for S3productions BUT I do ask for YOUR help, ideas, thoughts, and leads

Why does Subconscious Stress cause self destructive Behavior?
The symptoms of Subconscious stress can be seen in 3 major ways. The sources are very individual, because the exact same circumstances do not cause the same reactions in all people. The Meditations in this class will help you find the source to release these stress points, but for now let’s examine the effect it has.
Conditioning-Pressure of Expectations from others, causing guilt, fear of change, and self fulfilling prophecy of defeat and failure.
Patterns-Auto-pilot reactions from past experiences, lowers expectations and self worth, causing missed opportunities
Habits-Coping mechanisms that keep you in denial, turn off creativity and intuition, and shuts down optimism and joy
Do any of these symptoms and thought processes resonate with you? if the answer is yes, then the Akashic records can help.

Have you ever considered searching records of incarceration to find your ancestors?
Whether researching a notorious family outlaw or a victim of early 20th century justice, there’s a good chance that you have an ancestor who has been incarcerated. Researching records of incarceration at local, state or federal penal institutions can reveal valuable family history information and also document shameful community patterns of social and economic abuse against blacks.
Join Sharon Batiste Gillins for an engaging discussion on the genealogical value of searching records of the incarcerated.
Sharon Batiste Gillins is a native of Galveston, Texas with paternal ancestral roots in St. Mary Parish, Louisiana and maternal roots in Fort Bend County, Texas. A life-long interest in her family's history led to an active involvement in researching African American family history over the past 25 years. While researching her own family, she developed an in interest in unique and under-utilized record systems and record groups. Some of her more recent work focuses on strategies researchers can use to analyze Louisiana’s Freedmen’s Bureau field office records for revealing, often personal information on freedmen ancestors.
Ms. Gillins is a member of the Galveston Historical Society, National Genealogical Society, and Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society. A retired Associate Professor at Riverside City College, she frequently calls upon her career background as a college educator to present workshops or deliver courses at regional and national conferences and genealogical institutes. She is also a member of the adjunct faculty at Samford Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research in Birmingham.
