More Than a Mapp is a free iPhone and iPod app that allows users to discover and contribute to the African American history that exists all around us. The location-enabled application can reveal sites of significance to black history in your city, and allows you to upload map points of your own. The crowd-sourced and moderated data will grow to reveal that history doesn’t just live in books; it has a presence in the everyday places we find ourselves.
Black History Month was in February, but we believe that black history is American history and should be celebrated all year long. Why do we have Black History Month? This question is probably one of the most raised questions in the month of February in many classrooms across America. Blacks living in America during the early years of the twentieth century were commonly accepted as having little history other than that of slavery. Dr. Carter G. When it comes to the Black family where do we begin in rebuilding and stabilizing the black family structure? Can we really rebuild or is it totally a lost? As we start to rebuild the structure of the Black Family what are things that need to be omitted and added, for instance 'black absent father," or "at risk?" Where do we start in uniting and bringing the Black family together instead of tearing it down and ripping it apart?
