In 1903, an inspection reported that children at the school were commonly kept in leg irons according to " Florida closing 111 year old reform school, United Press International, May 27, 2011, retrieved July 17, 2011." The one room white building with blood stains on the walls, beds and sheets, were used to beat black and white boys at Arthur G. Dozier School for Boys.
Please join host Antoinette Harrell, Professor Clare Washington at Portland State University and her students for a discussion with Richard Huntly, Nate Dowling, Johnny Gabby as they discuss their childhood memories of Dozier Reform School in Marianna, Florida.
One room was used for whipping white boys, and another for black boys. In a report published by the U.S. Department of Justice in 2010, 11.3% of boys surveyed at the school reported that they been subject to sexual misconduct by staff using force in the last twelve months, and 10.3% reported that they had been subject to it without the use of force. One inmate said that the punishments were severe, but justified. But another claimed that he had seen a boy trapped in a running laundry dryer at the school, and suspected the boy was killed.
Many of the white men who were at Dozier Reform School for Boys spoke about the abuse the black boys received. Some say that the black boys were treated worst then they were. This past week I spoke with Nate Dowling one of black men who were at Dozier from 1958--1959. He spoke the severe beaten he and other black boy received by the staff at Dozier Reform School. Please join host Antoinette Harrell and co-host Dr. Okpara Nosakhere and their special guest Nate Dowling. Nate will share what he went through at Dozier Refrom School in Marianna, Florida.
Last month researchers at the Univeristy of South Florida in Tampa used ground penetrating radars to uncover graves at Dozier Reform School Boy in Marianna, Florida.
The largest gravesite is on the northside of the campus, where African-American boys were buried it is the site where the 31 graves are marked with white crosses, but researchers believe they do not correspond with actural buried sites.
What happen to these black boys, why isn't that no one is saying anything about the girls? Was these boy murders, raped, where are their families, Are any of them still alive today.
One of the men who were one of the White House Boys put me in contact with Jerry Cooper, the president of WHB, who was once a ward of the Florida School for Boys will tell us what he know about the black boys and what happen to them.
Please join host Antoinette Harrell and co-host Dr. Okpara Nosakhere for this upcoming discussion.
55 bodies were found at the infamous Dozier Reform School in Marianna, Florida. Cadaver dogs were used to help locate the bodies. Several men like Johnny Lee Gaddy tells of stories of abuse that he suffered at the state-run school.
Johhny Gaddy was 11 years old in 1957 when he says police picked him up in Dade City and sent him to Dozier. He says guards would send dogs after boys who tried to run away, and he never saw several of them again. What’s more, he was counseled not to talk about what he saw…
“And when I was taking the garbage to the pit, and I told the guy, ‘That looks just like a boy’s hand right there, ” says Gaddy. ” He said, ‘Johhny, don’t ever say that again. If you don’t want to be like that, don’t ever say that again.’ So, everything that we seen and heard, we just had to not see it and not hear it.”
Please host Antoinette Harrell and her guest Johnny Lee Gaddy as they discuss this topic,

A South African schoolboy raped by white school boys.
A group of white boys from a South African agricultural school in the Northern Cape province allegedly made a video of themselves dehumanising a black fellow pupil with a broomstick.
According to the City Press, the video shows the six white learners, dressed in just their underwear, attacking the child in the boarding house of Hoër Landbousk...ool, situated in the town of Jan Kempdorp.
Throughout the ordeal, the child is bound to a steel frame bed by hands and feet, smeared with a white substance that appears to be shaving cream, while a handful of black pupils watch.
At the end of the video, the child is then raped with a broom handle while his perpetrators laugh.
The child is reportedly a new scholar at the school, having enrolled at the beginning of the year.
Northern Cape education spokesperson, Sydney Stander, condemned the act.
“You cannot tell me that these learners at this age with their level of education didn’t know that what they were doing is unacceptable. This is blatant racism,” Stander said.
The child is reportedly receiving counselling. His attackers were charged with rape and assault during the week but released on R1,000 ($100) bail, to appear again in court on March 5.
THIS IS SOUTH AFRICA, A TREACHEROUS NELSON MANDELA'S NEO-APARTHEID NATION...
A Jackson County circuit judge urged Attorney General Pam Bondi in a petition denial on Friday to proceed with caution on a investigation of Dozier' secrets.
Attorney Bondi wanted permission to exhume bodies from the Marianna cemetery and surrounding area. The University of South Florida researchers believe there may be unmarked graves and unaccounted bodies of boys who died at Dozier.
Please join host Antoinette Harrell and her special guest. Richard Huntly, White House Boys Organization President, Jerry Cooper, Robert Straley and Roger Dean as the discuss update on the status of the exhumation.
