Remembering Dr. Webb Evans: Can We Solve Our Problems If We "Buy Black"?

    in Women

Dr. Webb Evans, Founder of the United American Progress Association is remembered for his slogan Buy Black. Following in the tradition of Marcus Garvey, Dr. Evans urged African Americans to spend money with other African Americans in order to build self sustaining communities. He sought to empower black owned businesses to hire black people and alleviate the problems of discrimination in hiring. He was active right up to his passing at the age of 101 years old. A few years ago, he appointed a successor, Min. Rahim Chesed Aton, known by many as "Sax Preacher" to carry on the campaign to re-educate African American consumers to "Buy Black." Do we actually have the power to solve our economic problems in our hands if we just engage in strategic spending?

    The Best Time to Argue

    in Religion

Contrary to popular belief, many people think that the best time to get your point across is when it is fresh in your mind but I have discovered that this is not the case.  I have also found that at that particular time is the worst because it clouds your ability to have an intelligent debate and will often times erupt into a full blown-out slugfest which may not be what you had planned when you attempted to give someone a piece of your mind.

We can safely say that waiting until you have cooled is a very difficult time especially while you sat back and listen to the other party continuing to state their case but I contend that it is the best and only real way to get anything settled without confrontation, long term animosity and/or violence.  As many, who live long enough, learn violence really is never the answer or solution to any problem and it will add more to your total frustration instead of having the desire effect and reducing it.
