Think Yourself Fit/Discussing it with Melissa Magazine
Sunday August 28, 2005, was the day that would forever change my life. It was the last time I'd attend church in New Orleans, and the last time I'd lock my apartment door. My twelve year old son and I would soon transition from life as usual, to a life of uncertainty. That was the night we evacuated to the New Orleans Superdome in anticipation of hurricane Katrina.
Life Challengers would ask the question "Is where I am this very moment, where I thought I would be in my Life Domains? Determining what is normal or acceptable to me is the beginning of the SELF-EVALUATION phase to becoming a LIFE CHALLENGER. Do you want to become a LIFE CHALLENGER? Well, becoming a LIFE CHALLENGER starts with getting to know you; your strengths and weaknesses, then deciding what you don't want out of life or better yet, what you want!
Join Bare It All and special guest Katherine Waddell, Owner of This Needs To Be Said Media, Inc. Do you dread Sunday nights because you know Monday is around the corner, and that means back to work? Do you feel like there is more to life than having a "job?" She was always telling others to "quit that job and do what you love," it was now time for her to practice what she was preaching.Ms. Waddell is here to share her story of how she went from crying in her car because Monday was around the corner, to living her dream. What started out as a blog is now a blog radio talk show. Each day the goal is to invest in the community, good seeds that will grow, and produce productive citizens. All of her life she has been consistent in sharing information with others as she has learned it. Katherine says, “It has been my desire to educate others.” So now she is doing just what she has held in her heart for many years. Through her understanding, people die when they do not know. So that saying, what you don’t know won’t hurt you…is a lie!

When asked about their goal in life, little girls used to say "I want to grow up and get married" as if marriage itself is te goal in life. For female children, it used to be. Ones aspirations were simply to be someones wife, to have the title "Mrs." in front of ones name. Today women grow up expecting much more out of life, and marriage is expected to happen along the way to becoming a doctor, lawyer, architect, scientist, writer, actress, or whatever one plans as a career. But what happens when that "Mrs." title is never received? Some women feel like failures if they never find a husband. Other women find husbands but never find themselves, they stop seeking personal goals after they become wives. They too can end up feeling like failures. In Islam marriage is said to be half the faith. What happens when you can't fulfill that half? Today we examine the emotional health of marriage and how women's self esteem is affected by the presence or absence of a spouse. Later we'll be joined by the publisher of Heal Thy Life Magazine, Sis. Maryam Muhammad, to discuss how women's identities are affected by marriage.
