As the music therapist at the Burns, Plastic and Trauma Unit (BPTU) at VGH, Gemma facilitates music therapy programs for patients, their families, and healthcare staff alike. http://gemmamusictherapy.com/
How does music therapy work?
Music therapy is facilitated through a variety of interventions including patient song choices, music making, song writing, improvisation, and guided relaxation. Other times, the music therapist works alongside other healthcare disciplines such as nurses, physiotherapist, or occupational therapist, using music during physical rehabilitation to inspire movement and promote encouragement by accompanying movement through musical cues, which also helps peoople become distracted from the pain. Visit www.mtabc.com or www.musicheals.ca for more info.
Don't miss your chance to ask questions! How can music therapy help you and your loved ones better deal with pain?

It's tournament time.
After six months of hockey, 59 hockey teams are whittled down to 16 for the right to call themselves national champions. And with the Frozen Four in our backyard of Boston, this is going to be one of the most exciting and anticipated tournaments in recent memory.
Both Boston College and Boston University will start their runs out east, with the Eagles slotting against Denver in the Providence, RI regional while the top-seeded Terriers will play the last at-large team in - Yale - in Manchester, NH. There's a local feel to this tournament, one that could conceivably end with the Terriers and Eagles playing in the national championship.
Tune in live Wednesday at 8 PM as Joe and Shep take over BC Interruption Radio with a live version of Eastern Bias. Call in at 646-200-0446, and let your voice be heard before the teams converge on their regionals for the start of the national tournament. The Race To Boston is on!

Two years ago, then-new Athletic Director Brad Bates sponsored a Town Hall style meeting discussing the state of Boston College football in addition to his overall athletic program. Selected season ticket holders were invited to the Yawkey Center to meet with Bates and members of his staff to voice opinions about the football program and the game day experience.
Two years later, Bates will entertain a number of season ticket holders prior to the basketball season finale against Wake Forest. The actual purpose of the meeting wasn't addressed in the invitation, but he will have a meeting once again to go over the Boston College fan experience from his constituents.
In the days leading up to this, we figured we'd take your pulse of the state of the programs and check back in with you! BCI Radio, after a period of dormancy over the last month or so, is BACK, and we're coming back with a big bang.
So tune in on Tuesday at 8 PM and discuss the state of the Boston College athletics program. We'll have your calls at 646-200-0446.

We are the Cannibinoid Chronix( a group of 2 which includes me Dustin and my partner in music John), coming out of the Kootneys British Columbia Canada, Me coming from South Canada in Ontario, and John being born in British Columbia, we sparked alot of musical interest and grew up similar lifestyles, understanding the struggle and up and downs in an off the streets. One day coming upon the right equipment to record we turned our street knowledge and talents into writing music and from there we are trying to progress. and spread the message, inspire by a story in Vancouver BC Canada of a local Tim Horton manager soaking 2 homeless men and their belongings while sleeping in order to get them to move away from the business. When we heard the article we wanted to stand up and somehow send a message the way we are good at. This song called "Harsh Reality" is whats become of it. We hope one day to have our message shared worldwide, deeply into the hearts of people everywhere. I would like to thank you on behalf of both of us(John and I) for your support and for taking your time to listen to it. To know there is people out there wanting to get our word out is inspirational.
