As the music therapist at the Burns, Plastic and Trauma Unit (BPTU) at VGH, Gemma facilitates music therapy programs for patients, their families, and healthcare staff alike. http://gemmamusictherapy.com/

    How does music therapy work?

Music therapy is facilitated through a variety of interventions including patient song choices, music making, song writing, improvisation, and guided relaxation. Other times, the music therapist works alongside other healthcare disciplines such as nurses, physiotherapist, or occupational therapist, using music during physical rehabilitation to inspire movement and promote encouragement by accompanying movement through musical cues, which also helps peoople become distracted from the pain. in Sports

    It's tournament time.

After six months of hockey, 59 hockey teams are whittled down to 16 for the right to call themselves national champions. And with the Frozen Four in our backyard of Boston, this is going to be one of the most exciting and anticipated tournaments in recent memory.

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1073

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Stacie Kelly from Victoria BC, an abuse survivor and activist who's serving as the Coordinator for 1st Annual #NoMoreShame Conference 2015, being put on by Trauma University which will be held June 26, 27 & 28th in Portland, Oregon. It's described as "For Survivors. By Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse." Born and raised an Oregonian, Stacie describes herself as, "an exceptionally positive individual who enjoys staying busy." But, she explains, "About three years ago I was diagnosed with Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD). I am a survivor of a decade of incest - an unfortunate multi-generational pattern of abuse that extends as far back as three generations ago. I am on bi-daily antidepressant medication(s) and am currently in weekly somatic counseling." She says, "Childhood trauma is still a relatively new field of study and it is often overshadowed by Veterans and/or people with Traumatic Brain Injuries. My hope is to shed light on the daily life of someone struggling with mental wellness and provide insight on the impact of sexual abuse and silence." And true to form she's not just sitting back waiting for others to make further developments in the field. "I am currently working in a volunteer capacity as a Conference Coordinator for Trauma Recovery University. I speak every day to survivors around the globe who are interested in participating in our conference. It is survivor led and born out of passion to break the cycle of shame, silence and abuse."

The Unknown Zone: The Takenouchi Manuscripts, The World's Secret History

    in Paranormal

The Takenouchi Manuscripts, The World's Secret History.

Transcribed by Takenouchi Matori 1500 years ago from an ancient set of manuscripts tell of the history of the universe beginning with the creation up to the Christian period.  The current universe began about 300 billion years ago.  The earth was a large puddle of mud taking 22 billion years to fully form.

There was no evolution as is currently thought but "gods" who created 5 races of man and who ruled and appointed kings around the world.  This was the first of what would be 4 major human time periods on Earth including the current one which began in 660 BC 'til present.
The ancients were more advanced than current man and built pyramids 6 million years ago with the purpose of communicating with the heavenly gods.  It has been speculated that the great pyramids of Egypt did the same.

Learn this and much more on The Unknown Zone with Judy Sellins and Dave Turco

CUTV News spotlights Suzanne Simcox of Rock Solid Leadership

    in Motivation

Vancouver Island, BC – By the time women reach their 40s, most have set aside who they are because they placed expectations on themselves that they needed to be the best mom, the best wife, and the best in their chosen career. They have forgotten who they are and the language the makes them their unique self.

Women want one thing — to discover their best in all aspects of their life. Suzanne Simcox is the founder of Rock Solid Leadership, a business, life and executive coaching practice dedicated to helping women become the Chief Executive Officer of their lives through the transformative and experiential journey of self-acceptance.

“I’ve moved through the muck of my life and come out the other side in a way that’s allowed me to be able to help others,” says Suzanne. “I have gone through all this wonderful life experience that I’ve been able to translate into a coaching practice where people know I can walk the walk and talk the talk.”

As a coach, Suzanne specializes in a methodology known as Power Coaching with Mind-Kinetics (PCMK™). These transformative science-based methodologies access your subconscious mind to identify and change unconstructive behavior, as well as, assist in creating unique and innovative solutions to issues and challenges that are present in your business, life or career.

“PCMK offers a balance of logic and heart based methods where clients find their own solutions through my guidance as a coach and mentor," says Suzanne. "We find the root cause of the issues, experientially release the emotions around those issues and then create solutions to move forward.”

CUTV News Radio spotlights Catherine Abbott of Heal After Divorce

    in Motivation

Vancouver, BC – Few life experiences compare to the emotional devastation of divorce. Many women find themselves stuck in their cycle of despair, but there are ways to move forward and to have an even better life after divorce.

Catherine Abbott is the founder of Heal After Divorce, a coaching practice dedicated to supporting women to move forward with their lives after divorce.

“Loss and grief are natural when coping with divorce or a relationship breakup,” says Catherine. “It is normal to have emotional suffering when someone you love leaves or even if you are the one initiating leaving the relationship.”

Catherine was inspired to create Heal After Divorce following the dissolution of her marriage.

“The ending of my marriage forced me to reconsider my life," says Catherine. "There were opportunities for me. I got to see myself in a new light. I decided it was important to support other women through this process so they can learn these techniques and find ways to express what they need to express in appropriate ways to move forward and heal.”

Divorce can be extremely isolating. We all have friends and family we can talk to about our divorce, but of course we’ll only tell them certain things. Our deep, dark secrets are our own and they’re not as easy to share. As a coach, Catherine is there to support you to see there are ways to move forward.

“The saddest thing is when I talk to a woman who has been divorced for 10 years and she’s still angry and still hurting,” says Catherine. “As soon as someone commits to wanting to change, that’s the first step, so I’m grateful to support other women on their journey.”
