Host: Kinte Guest: Bahiyaa Jummah Bahiyaa Jummah Bio: Bahiyaa Jummah - born in 1982 in Gaza in Palestine, to mother Myriam and father Yusuf, is the 6th of 11 children. The family moved to Cairo, Egypt in 1987 when Yusuf wanted somewhere safer for his children to live. Growing up Muslim, Bahiyaa was a shy girl, but was extremely happy to live in Cairo. Attending primary school, Bahiyaa's father put her into a secondary school that was fairly new at the time in Cairo (at the time) that taught based off the British Educational System. English was taught by ex-pats from the UK and Australia and Bahiyaa picked up the language quickly and easily and traveled extensively as a teenager to the UK and Australia. Bahiyaa's grandmother, Helena, was extremely influential in her life. She exposed Bahiyaa to American Film and Music and taught her about Film and Hollywood, as a cousin of hers was a Silent Film Actress. As Bahiyaa got older she began expressing an interest in Education and wanting a higher education at an American University. With the support of her family, she applied at various Universities and was permitted a student visa and studied at University of Pittsburgh majoring in Elementary and Early Childhood Education and Psychology.
