Join us each week as experts help us explore issues shaping the world of work! #TChat Radio show is back live on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at 6:30 pm ET (3:30 pm PT). Immediately after, our entire community will continue the conversation on #TChat Twitter from 7-8 pm ET. Recently at this year's HR Technology Conference & Exposition, we had an amazing panel discussion about engagement - more specifically - employee energy, drive and focus, which has become the holy grail of HR and business leaders. This is true through every aspect of the talent lifecycle. By why? Most internal initiatives designed to improve the status quo haven’t moved the needle much, if at all. Now throw in "fun and games" into the engagement equation. Does creating fun team-building challenges and continuous recognition activities improve overall well-being, productivity and retention? Does it help create culture where there was none before? Join #TChat co-creators and hosts Meghan M. Biro and Kevin W. Grossman as we look to our new friends from the Great White North for answers: Mario Coculuzzi, Eastern Region Director for Microsoft Canada, and Dan Benoni, Co-Founder & Product Director of Officevibe, a social employee engagement platform.

Tom Fabbri understands firsthand the heights we all can attain once we give ourselves permission to dream. Whether training to become a helicopter/jet pilot, climbing the world’s Seven Summits, or diving with great white sharks, Tom has learned to harness fear to achieve his dreams. Tom is an author & international speaker that challenges himself & his body, while acquiring life lessons of inner strength, passion, and motivation.
Up from Rock Bottom
While Tom has achieved abundant successes, they were only reached after a rough and tumultuous journey in his early years of life. In his twenties, Tom lacked direction as he was caught up in drug and alcohol use—eventually joining the military where he spent a short amount of time in the brig. Lacking motivation, Tom then left the military and drifted aimlessly through bankruptcy, jail, and eventually ended up homeless and sleeping in a car. It was from that rock-bottom place that he was able to see clearly that it was time to start over. At the age of 28, while working for minimum-wage at an airport, Tom decided to take his first step towards developing his best-self by ignoring the common notion that he was “too old” for aviation training. In two years, Tom became a captain for a major airline, flying private jets for the Cleveland Browns football team & celebrity clients.
Tom discusses his life, his challenges and his latest book "Ageless You: The Boomers Guide To Beginning Again"

Captain Edward M. Brittingham, USN (ret.) “was in the Air Force ROTC in college, made pilot, but dropped out in his junior year. Drafted in 1962, he joined the Navy as a navigator (Naval Aviation Observer) and then reported to NAS Norfolk, Virginia for submarine training. He joined VP-10 and transitioned to the P-3A aircraft where antisubmarine warfare became the primary mission. He moved up the ranks ultimately to Commanding Officer of VP-11.” Edward M. Brittingham is the author of The Iranian Deception; Sub Chaser; Operation Poppy and Hard Facts: Terrorist Camps, the CIA, and the State of Homeland Security. According to the book description of Hard Facts: Terrorist Camps, the CIA, and the State of Homeland Security, "The clues are as mystifying as they are terrifying: Off America s East Coast a new generation of nuclear-armed Russian subs lie in wait for devastating orders. At a clandestine base in Yemen, terrorists begin a countdown for jihad. In South America a dictator secretly tries to acquire super weapons from Russia and Iran. And suicide bombers may have managed the unthinkable could they have smuggled WMDs into the US? Now it's a race against time as the CIA, FBI, and Department of Defense hunt frantically for the terrorists while trying to unravel the links behind a global conspiracy out to destroy the United States.
Today we look at Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Aviation, specifically the ASC Commodities Division in Richmond, VA that comes in at #2 for purchase order spending YTD.
