Glastonbury, Somerset, United Kingdom....its magical name is Avalon, home to the ancient healing powers of Chalice Well, of the storied-lives of Arthur and Guinevere, of the oldest Christian church and settlement in England founded by Joseph of Arimethea. This place has called to people for a millenia and likely longer. I made my first pilgrimage there in 2001, a month before 9-11. In 2006 I began taking others there on their own sacred Pilgrimage. In this week's show you will hear some of my story and from several others with whom I have shared this extraordinary experience. I hope you will join us on Wednesday at 7 pm Eastern. The link will take you to further details offered at my website as well as the Facebook page:
Brian Bray, the Harbor Master of Avalon, joins Peter on Catalina Island. The Harbor Master discusses the rules and regulations of boating and docking at Catalina Island. On Catalina Island, they are serious about preserveing the water quality near the island. He explains how they even go as far as to put dye into the toilets of ships that dock there, to make sure that they are not flushing into the ocean near the island. If boaters are caught, they are banned from docking at the island for a year. The bacteria levels have been incredibly lowered since implementing this and other regulations. Returning to the show we have Laurelei Black, author, independent scholar and practitioner devoted to Aphrodite, sharing with us her findings on Sacred Courtesans, past and present. Laurelei is interested in how we apply the ancient wisdom and service to modern thought and practice. She will give us insight into interviews she's conducted with modern-day courtesans as she's delved into what training they've undergone, what rexources or support they have (and lack) and what their service looks like in a practical sense.
Crossing the threshold tonight, Jhenah Telyndu will discuss Avalon and the Avalonian Tradition taught by the Sisterhood of Avalon, a Celtic women's mysteries tradition which takes inspiration from the enclaves of holy women found around the Celtic world. Existing in tandem with druidism, these traditions served different cultural purposes - learn more about this living tradition and it's ancient roots!
