Yet in Rebecca Sloan's relationship, love is just another four-letter word in the dictionary. Rebecca is a hardworking mother from Atlanta who provides for her son, while Derek, her worthless man does nothing other than use and abuses her daily. Reluctantly, she accepts whatever he dishes out because she’s afraid of raising her son alone.
Her best friend Slinda refuses to sit back and watch her friend be hurt any longer. With Slinda’s help and Felix, a new friend, Rebecca finds the courage to leave Derek and strive for a better life. We will continue to speak on the stage of getting to know someone else with the goal of getting into a romantic relationship. Once again, this is one of the most crucial parts because we are making decisions that will make a big impact on our lives later on. This is the time we not only enjoy a new person and learn about them, but we are seeing if they are to continue to be in our lives and vice versa.
Many times we mess up in this stage with not guarding our hearts, rushing, ignoring signs, and so many other things. I am looking forward to brining up some questions I have.
Meet author Ron Boehm. Ron will be my guest on the show to discuss his new book, The Boys on Cherry Street: From the Crazy Innocence of College to the Loss of Innocenc in Vietnam.
About the book:
The Boys on Cherry Street is a collection of stories both humorous and heroic. The stories start with the zany and outrageous antics of the author and his college friends and continues through his U.S. Marine Corps training, flight school and service in Vietnam. There are many great books written about the Vietnam War—its heroes, their courage and sacrifice. However, this book is different in that it also shows the keen sense of humor that some men showed in some of the most stressful situations imaginable. It was this sense of humor that Boehm believe was part of their coping mechanism that got them through the tense situations of combat. The book is a salute to the young men of the Vietnam War Era who answered their country’s call.
About the author:
Ron Boehm was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. After graduation from Southeastern Louisiana College he went through OCS in the U.S. Marine Corps and was commissioned an officer. He was one of the first group of aviation students the Marine Corps sent through U.S. Air Force Flight School. After earning his Air Force and Navy Wings’ he flew the A6A Intruder in combat and served as a Forward Air Controller with the 7th Marine Regiment in Vietnam. Ron Currently lives in Houston, Texas has two children and owns a construction company. This is his second book.
Host Cyrus Webb welcomes minister and author Shon Hyneman to Conversations LIVE to discuss how his faith and experiences have prepared him for the work he does today and what he hopes readers take away from WISDOM.
Meet author Dr. Lucie K. Lewis. She will be my guest to discuss her book, I AM: Renewal From Within the Garden
About the book:
Much is said about the importance of knowing what you stand for so that you do not fall for just anything, but knowing what you stand on is what keeps you standing in the face of whatever comes. What you stand on becomes the anchor of your life. Dr. Lewis had anchored herself in the wisdom of a trusted confidant standing through this cherished loved-one s strength. When this very special woman died, Dr. Lewis felt lost until she could reanchor her life through a search that led her on a journey of emotional healing. In this work, Dr Lewis guides you through the lessons that soothed her weary soul and lifted her from depression. This book is for all who seek renewal, awakening, restoration, and hope in tomorrow.
About the author:
Lucie Lewis is an experienced freelance technical and creative writer and the owner/founder of Creative Futures, LLC. She holds an Ed.D. from William Howard Taft University in Educational Leadership, an M.A. in Human Services Administration from Springfield College and a B.S. in Elementary Education from American International College. Her writing has appeared in the Afro American Point of View Community Newspaper, Executive Forum Magazine, Western Mass Women s Magazine and on UnityFirst.com.
This month on the "Inspiration for a Lifetime" Facebook page, the topic is forgiveness so I thought this was a perfect way to end the last week of it.
This month has been a blessing for me to really search my heart and forgive in ways that I haven't. I realized that I have struggled with forgiving myself for years which not only lead me to continue in sin in the past, but also to easily find fault in others or not have ability to forgive. I am not saying that things were not spitefully done to me for no reason, but I also did some sinful things to others as well (which also stemmed from past unforgiveness). I think we build up pride and we forget we ourselves need to be forgiven and that God has forgives us daily.
Luke 23:34 "Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots."
Ephesians 4:32 "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."
Matthew 6:15 "But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
