Playin’ With a Boss Synopsis
Never start a relationship with lies. That’s something Destanee Hart should have followed. After moving from Atlanta, Georgia to West Des Moines, Iowa; she falls for one of the local dope boys. Knowing exactly who Rashad King is, she keeps her true identity a secret. He has a few lies of his own though, and soon everything falls apart.
Being under gunfire at a local club starts it all. And temporarily taking over for her father puts an even bigger target on Destanee’s back. Without realizing it, she gave her father’s enemies prime opportunity to strike. Then when her best friend gets kidnapped, Destanee’s true past starts to come to light. Nobody knows what they are going to find when they get a lead on Jaidyn’s whereabouts, but Destanee shows them that, without a doubt, they are playing with a boss.

Meet author Judy Carlson. She'll be my guest on The Author Chat Show to discuss her new book, The White Knight, The Lost Kingdom and the Sea Princess.
About the book:
This is an epic-sized ideal romantic adventure in the tradition of C.S. Lewis and Tolkien. With abundant imagination and great Biblical sensibilities, Judy Carlson takes up the ancient story of the Eastern Islands, now overtaken by the mysterious and evil Lord Regent. The battle to restore righteousness, liberty, and justice takes place just as the White Knight’s Prince Lael meets the intriguing and beautiful sea princess. Clara and Ian, two kids from Minnesota, join the adventure to battle evil, overcome lurking temptations, and along the way gain wisdom, love, and friendships. For those with an imaginative soul, this unique story will engage, entertain, and edify with godly counsel readers of every age. The White Knight is perfect for literature study or family reading.
About the author:
Judy Carlson is from St. Paul, MN. She and husband Tim have six children and 20 grandchildren and reside in Missouri. Judy has a BA in English from Trinity International University. Her lifetime passion for literature and writing and the works of C.S. Lewis and Tolkien has permeated this novel with their characteristic sense of wonder. She wrote her first story at age nine, and has been the grand storyteller to her children and grandchildren.
I’m a Middle School Language Arts Teacher from Lavallette, New Jersey, who leaps out of bed each morning ready to greet my eighty 12-14 year-old students as they come into class complaining and moaning about how they hate to read and write. But I don’t take that personally. Instead, I try to find fun and innovative ways to get them to love it as much as I do.
I enjoy sharing ideas with my colleagues at school, and participating in professional development opportunities on Twitter (@susankotch). Join me each weekend on Saturday mornings at 7:30 EST at #satchat, and on Sunday mornings at 9:00 EST at #sunchat!
When I’m not in the classroom, you can find me out and about town in Lavallette, a seaside resort town that is home to beautiful ocean and bay beaches. The winters are quiet when the tourists go home, and the island is given back to the “locals”.
Once the weather warms, you can find me kayaking, boating, sitting on the beach reading, swimming, strolling the boardwalk, biking around, and then grabbing a frozen custard. Sasha, my Golden Doodle, is part of the town’s Goose Patrol, keeping the fields free of geese. Believe it or not, winters bring plenty of snow to the island. We were all affected by 2012’s Hurricane Sandy.
