Summers are great for relaxing and reflecting, and for pastoral leaders a time to reflect on their congregations' strengths. Appreciative inquiry is an approach to analyzing and understanding your faith community, and how to help it make the most of the abilities at your disposal. Join us as we speak with the Samaritan Institute's Nancy Devor about appreciative inquiry and the potential that it can unlock in your congregation.
"Appreciative Inquiry" motivates progress in groups. Not by solving problems but by identifying the energizing forces already at work, and then amplifying them. AI emphasizes our role as a community, not as an organization. Authentic human relationships form the movement and the movement itself helps form them. Our need to associate and share goals energize us from the bottom-up. Assumptions / Values: Differences as a source of strength Empowerment of those present

Cherish Love was born on June 3rd of the year 1979. Since she was a young child, she loved reading, music, and poetry. As a young girl she would stand on the table at her grandmother’s house and do interpretative dance, and as she grew poetic prose began to flow naturally along with the discovery of a definitive gift of articulation. Throughout her teenage years she wrote many poems for friends and classmates, participated in the debate team fully utilizing the linguistic ability that was second nature to her.Today, Cherish Love is embarking upon an endeavor to open the doors for other talented vocalists, poets, lyricists, and dance artists in the Phoenix Arizona area. She currently hosting an event called WOE!! Nights of Creativity on the third Saturday of each month where the creative are free to express their talents and giftings in front of a crowd of appreciative observers.Cherish’s future plans are to begin a dance and theatrical production company that brings, music, dance, and poetic prose under one roof incorporating movement and stage play to captivate the hearts and minds of those in attendance.
Friendship Love Life We are all so much more fortunate than we give ourselves credit for. We constantly preoccupy ourselves with thoughts of things we don’t have and experiences we are missing out on.
We need to learn to be appreciative and grateful for everything we have and everything we are going to receive. If we all stopped for a moment and looked around us, we would find endless things we have that others are not as fortunate to have. People complain constantly about having an outdated model of a car or phone when we should just be grateful we have these things in the first place.
“Never take someone you love for granted. Hold every person close to your heart because you might wake up one day and realize that you lost a diamond while you were too busy collecting stones.”

Bob & Megan Tschannen-Moran, founders of the Center for School Transformation, discuss how they train coaches, teachers, school leaders, mentors, program directors, and other educators using their approach from their book Evocative Coaching: Transforming Schools One Conversation At A Time. They discuss Evocative Coaching as a person-centered, no-fault, strengths-based model for supporting educator's professional learning through a four step model:1) Story Listening, 2) Expressing Empathy, 3) Appreciative Inquiry, 4) Design Thinking
They share the unique aspect of Evocative Coaching which is their very concrete and intentional strategy for teaching coaches to expand their empathy skills and how to respectfully embrace the feelings and underlying needs of the coachee in the learning process.
Why would this be something worth talking about in an age where women have come a long way in law enforcement positions? Saundra Rhodes humbly says she isn't interested in making history, but more excited that she was afforded the confidence of her peers to give her the position.
One of the things Chief Rhodes is emphasizing is community policing. Getting everyone in the community involved in safety and crime prevention issues is going back to the basics where officers are respected for their friendly, helpful attitudes, and citizens feel openly appreciative of their presence. An increase of police presence in all areas of Horry County instills a sense of safety and well being for all.

This week, Dynamic Dojo is going to air on SATURDAY June 15th at 4 pm Pacific, instead of Sunday, due to events that Sifu Robert and Sifu Restita must attend on Sunday.
Its our Rant, Rave n' Rap show...a periodic open mic where listeners can call in to talk about anything...and it doesn't necessarily have to do with martial arts. Got a rant about something? Want to send a appreciative shout out to someone? Got a subject to chat about? Call in!!
Special appearance by Ron Sarchian, who broke the Guinness Record of kicks executed within one hour. He did 6012 today, 6/15/13, beating the previous record of 5750! Sifu Robert was there as our "man on the street" to capture this great event!
One of the open mic subjects that might be touched on, is "spirituality and martial arts--does it have a place in martial arts and when does it go too far?"
These shows are very fun, so listen in, grab a beverage and join us for some fun open mic chat!
