I'll be discussing the shelter debate, why a shelter pet isn't for everyone, and why it's not ok look down on those who choose not to get their pet from a shelter, and why you need to keep the shelter lecture to yourself.
Also, my feelings on kill vs. no-kill shelters and how they really operate.
Virgin Islands animal rescue organizations will get a boon from the chupacabra this summer. Ye Gods! A Tale of Dogs and Demons, the latest novel by former Virgin Islands resident Lynne Hinkey, is a tale of magic and monsters run amok on a Caribbean island. Lynne is donating 100% of the proceeds from ebook sales to animal rescue groups with the Animal Care Center of St. John, St. Thomas Humane Society, and St. Croix Animal Welfare Center benefitting in July, August, and September, respectively. "It's a two-fer deal," Lynne explains. "When you buy Ye God!, you get a good read and do a good deed.
The star of Ye Gods! is the chupacabra (Spanish for "goat-sucker"), a beast that captured the nation's imagination and has made its way into pop culture. Lynne's madcap crime-caper, "a Scooby-Doo meets Murder, She Wrote mash-up," tackles the mythology surrounding the monster with some new and hilarious twist.
Lynne is a "marine scientist by training, author by passion, and curmudgeon by nature." She moved to St. Thomas as a 19-year-old to attend the then College of the Virgin Islands and later worked for the UVI Marine Advisory Service. Her debut novel, Marina Melee, is set on the fictional island of São Jorge, a place that should seem familiar since it's based on St. Thomas. The story of Ye Gods! and the chupacabra was inspired by actual events in Puerto Rico, where Lynne did her doctoral studies at the University of Puerto Rico.
Lynne is available for interviews, book readings and signings, and book club appearances via Skype, phone, or other online venues. Contact her at email@example.com

We have somehow come to think that a trip to the veterinarian should yield us some kind of drug or vaccine to assure us we got our money’s worth on the visit AND that our pet is getting the protection and/or cure he or she deserves. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Dr. Kim Bloomer will be sharing with us how to take back control of our pet's health, the natural way.
Kim Bloomer, C.V.N.D., N.D. is a certified Animal Naturopath as well as being certified in small animal nutrition, with years of experience in animal health. She is a published author, writer, blogger, co-host of Animal Talk Naturally, and Co-Founder of the American Council of Animal Naturopathy.

Tune in Saturday as I discuss Animal Sacrifice with Dr. Tom Erik Raspotnik of Temples of Satan. Do some Satanists actually commit sacrifice or is this a pop-culture meme? The Temples of Satan is a Theistic Satanic Temple and maintains charters and lodges under its covenant drafted in 2011. While members appear to be scarce, those that claim it also find shelter under religious freedom in America; which happens to include animal sacrifice!
Keep an eye on this topic as a follow-up show will be conducted with Melissa Colton - Goodwin who will present a dissenting view as an animal trainer and animal rights advocate.

Blood ritual is fundamental to Judaism. Some blood sanctifies, some defiles. Let's see what the Talmud doctrines are.
The Talmud is a huge collection of doctrines and laws compiled and written before the 8th Century, A.D., by ancient Jewish teachers. The Talmud, which often cites the Old Testament, is the basic book of Jewish law.
Babylonian and Palestinian Talmuds
There are two editions of the Talmud; one was composed by Babylonian Jews and one by Jews who lived in ancient Jerusalem. Generally a citation from the Talmud refers to the Babylonian version, which is considered authoritative. The Jerusalem Talmud is not generally taught in even the most Orthodox Jewish schools today, though advanced Talmud scholars sometimes study it.
