    A Street Activist Perspective (A.S.A.P)

    in Politics

Our guest for this Sunday evening is our own native Houstonian, "Deric Muhammad." Deric Muhammad is an accomplished Houston-based Activist/Organizer who addresses issues on behalf of the black community and other poor and under-served disenfranchised communities concerning Social Justice, Police Brutality, Racial Inequality, and Black Male Development.

Deric Muhammad believes that man is given power for one reason; "To Serve Others!" Deric Muhammad has been, for years, seen on local and national television stations addressing the tough issues faced by Black people in America. He says that he is unashamed of his love for Black people and thanks God every day for giving him the honor of serving his community.

In 2009 he independently produced and starred in a critically acclaimed documentary called “Raising Boys: Tips for Single Moms” that addresses the plight of Black women raising sons in the absence of a father. He recently launched a Houston-based Black Male Initiative called Project FORWARD that focuses on Stopping Inner-City Violence and creating Economic Development. His writings have been published in many newspapers and he has currently released his first self-published book A.S.A.P (A Street Activist Perspective).

Spirit and Animal Guides as Caregivers for Caregivers

    in Spirituality

Join Sharon Rainbow Eagle, Jim Graywolf and Sue Graywolf for a webcast LIVE on Ciracle Radio on Wednesday 6/24 at 1 PM MST, 3 PM EST, 12 PM PST, 8 PM London and 10 PM Israel time. The web of life series we are presenting is getting very popular. Come join us by clicking the link below at showtime.

We had a wonderful show this past Sunday on Spirit Guides. People from around the globe tuned in and shared their thoughts. This followed a show on care-giving we promised to air more on as asked by the listeners.

And so it came to us something one of Jim’s elders taught - spirit and animal guides are there to help us grow and heal. But also to help us help those we aide, especially those giving care to others. True circle.

So let’s dig into this very powerful circle of healers and guides and see how we can best use this energy. Those caregivers who asked for more - join us. Those wishing for more on spirit guides and how to work with them - come join us.

The talking stick is now YOURS! Come join us and share your thoughts - or decide to just listen. Hit the link below just before show time.

We invite listeners to come and participate in the discussion and the sharing of knowledge. And we thank all our listeners for truly “being” the shows we air. Join us!

"What Is An Activist?" on "A Muslim and A Catholic Wake Up in 'Merica"

    in Politics

    What is an Activist?
A person who sees an injustice in the world and works hard to fix or right the injustice, but in the 21st century it seems it’s usually a false sense of self-importance.  “Wait, what an injustice in the world…that’s just wrong…I’m going to like that page, or “That one is really heart wrenching and it hurts me…I got to more than just like that one…I’m going to make it my status.” And activism is not just buying apparel to support the cause so that you look cool. Its east to be an activist these days, Right?  All you need is a computer, a mouse and lots of FaceBook friends so that you can broadcast to a large audience every time you like a page or make a nonsense comment.  What if all your clothes were stolen and your FaceBook page were to be deleted?   The hard truth is: Activism isn’t about the T-shirt, sticker, or the bracelet you bought. It’s not even what you talk about on the internet all the time, unless you are actively doing something about it! Being an activist means you “Join The Fight!” Being an activist is; knowing what support really means and your willingness to bear the weight of something…even if it is un-cool. Isa and Common Cal’s first guest is CJ Pearson. 13 years old and he gets it. At 13 years old, CJ Pearson commands a brand, following, and political message that inspires young and old alike. CJ has been featured on Fox News, the Washington Times, USA Today. Joining the conversation in the second hour will be Daniel Johnson from Solutions Institute (Isa’s Bromance) and Brian Engleman discussing the Tennessee, Louisiana, and LA shootings as well as the upcoming Act Con 3. That’s Tuesday night, July 28st at 8:00pm EST/5:00pm PST on “A Muslim & A Catholic Wake Up In ‘Merica.”  Coffee Party USA Radio Network.

Dr. Alim El-Bey speaks on "SHAMANIC ANIMAL SPIRIT GUIDES"

    in Spirituality

     "SHAMANIC ANIMAL SPIRIT GUIDES"

In the shamanic belief every thing is alive and carries with it power and wisdom. Power animals are an essential component of shamanic practice. They are the helping spirit which add to the power of the shaman and are essential for success in any venture undertaken by the shaman. Shamans believe that everyone has power animals – animal spirits which reside with each individual adding to their power and protecting them from illness, acting similarly to a guardian angel. Each power animal that you have increases your power so that illnesses or negative energy cannot enter your body.

    Everyone Has a Power Animal

Everyone is thought to have a few of these guardian power animals, from childhood on. Over the course of her or his life the person may have several. If a power animal leaves and one does not come to take its place the individual is considered, by the shaman, to be disempowered and therefore vulnerable to illness and bad luck. Power animal retrieval is a healing where the shaman goes to find a new power animal for you.

    Honoring Power Animals

It is important to honor your power animal. In shamanic work the power animal is essential, for a shaman who has no power is not going to have very good results. On a personal level, by honoring your power animal you let it know that its assistance is appreciated.

    Finding Your Power Animal

If you would like to find out who your power animal is, consulting a shamanic practitioner is an option. But to discover this on you own, you can ask for a dream and see if anything comes up. You can ask the power animal to show itself to you and if you start seeing one or another animal frequently that would be its way of revealing itself to you.
