Team Sky's Ian Boswell checks in from the Amgen Tour of California post Stage 4.
If Stage 3 was the hardest stage of the 2014 race, Stage 4 is arguably the most beautiful. The City of Monterey will host the Stage 4 start at Alvarado Street. With a spectacular backdrop of the Monterey Bay, fisherman heading out for the day's catch, and the sound of harbor seals, the riders will head south on one of the most iconic roadways in the world...Hwy 1. Along the way to Cambria, the riders will vie for one Sprint in Big Sur and three KOMs.
The route will feature spectacular ocean vistas, crashing waves, lighthouses, State Parks, elephant seals, herds of zebra, and Hearst Castle. Cambria is hosting the race for the first time. This is one of the quaintest towns in the USA. Half way between San Francisco and Los Angeles, Cambria has the ideal mix of the ocean, wineries, shopping, and great restaurants.

Team Sky's Ian Boswell checks in from the Amgen Tour of California prior to Stage 2.
The 2014 Amgen Tour of California’s Race of Truth, the individual time trial, will be held in Folsom. The town of Folsom is just down the road from Auburn. The race has visited Folsom in the past, but this is the first year they have hosted a race stage. Folsom was established as a town to support the gold miners in the 1850s and for the Folsom Prison. Who will strike gold and who will be singing the “Folsom Prison Blues” at the conclusion of this stage?
The 12.5 mile route will begin and finish in Folsom’s historic district. A start on Sutter Street will be followed by a left turn onto Riley and a short downhill run onto the Rainbow Bridge and over the American River. The riders will then head north towards Folsom Lake. A right turn onto Folsom Lake Crossing will take the riders past the main entrance of California’s second oldest prison. A turn onto Green Valley will lead the riders to an 180° turn and back on the same route to a finish in Folsom’s historic downtown district. This is a fast and flat course. While there is good chance that we will see a new leader after Stage 2, don’t expect to see the yellow jersey leave Folsom with a large lead.

The Southern California Political Round-up is back on the air on Sunday nights at 6pm PST, 9pm EST, to go over the past week's political events and prepare you for the upcoming week's expectations.
We will go over the latest in the presidential races every Sunday night, hear from local elected officials, political candidates and activists, and other guests striving to make a difference in Southern California. We have expanded to two hours as we invite more guests, including many of you, to participate in political topic panels. We also plan to expand our coverage greatly to include as many Southern California election races, from the Presidential primaries and Congressional races to the local races where conservatives need the support.
On this show, Coastal San Pedro Neighborhood Council board member Shannon Ross will join us to talk about some local issues she's working on in the San Pedro community, including the increasing homelessness attention. We'll also talk about the increasing intensity in the GOP Presidential Primary, as well as how the Democratic Presidential Primary is shifting.
Join us in our show chat room or call in to ask a question to one of our guests or to voice an opinion. (646) 787-1878
