Some people do things by the book. Others write the book. Enter Steve McAllister. He is running for Sarasota County Commissioner District 2, but hopes to find his way onto the ballot and into a seat on the Commission via write-in votes on November 4th.
Talkupy with Annie Lindstrom welcomes Steve McAllister, Director of Operational Development for Sarasota's The Flow Factory and Common Wealth Time Bank, to the show on Tuesday, August 12 at 12 pm Eastern Time to discuss his creative and compelling campaign.
Addressing the same old problems with the thinking that has caused them needs to be abandoned, according to Steve. He will discuss why he chose to run and do so as a write-in candidate. We'll also hear how his eight-point platform can help Sarasota "move past the status quo by opening up to a larger world view."

If you want change than you must vote for change, keeping the same person at The Board of Commissioners will not make your life easier... You need someone on your side that is going to give your children fighting chance in life... Understanding what the Board of Commissioners does will help you and your family.
The commission acts as the executive of the local government, levies local taxes, administers county governmental services such as prisons, courts, public health oversight, property registration, building code enforcement, and public works such as road maintenance. The system has been supplanted in large part as disparate sparsely settled regions become urbanized and establish tighter local governmental control, but in many more rural states the county commission is the form of government which oversees county management.
So, far today has the Board of Commissioners acted on your behalf. Do you want to change the jails or prisons policy? If, you want more education it started here with Conservative Black Woman name Brenda. She has a Son and grandson who she wants a bright future for. The Black male’s future is low priority for most Commissioners not Brenda... Just listen to her story it may seem like yours...
Is the governing board and policy-making body of County government? While many of its powers, duties and responsibilities are prescribed by law, and diffused through the wide-spread use of commissions, boards, committees, and independently elected county officers, the Board is in charge of developing and approving County policy setting the county budget. Jon Care, Board Coordinator, provides general administrative and liaison support for the Board of Commissioners, coordinates Board Committee Meetings, and maintains committee files.
