The Barbershop: Good riddance to superstition part 3!

    in Christianity

Welcome back to the Barbershop this week the Men of ICE continue their conversation "Good riddance to superstition"

The guys at ICE Ministries have continued to stress the need for change in the Black community. The church has always been a source of change for us. But how much can we change when we keep believing the wrong things? Christianity is about faith--not superstition. Yet there are tons of beliefs we have in the Body of Christ that lean more toward fears than they do faith! We're scared of demons in music, scared of demons in movies, and scared of demons in Muslims and Mormons. We play Last Airbender in the pulpit, and have practices closer to mesmerism than ministry. We keep trying to play Pin The Tail on the Anti-Christ or Guess When Jesus Comes Back. No more games! It's time to shake off superstition and embrace the historic Christian faith! We will be attacking and debunking superstitions in the church--this Sunday, in The Barbershop!

More on goal setting.....and how to trust yourself again!

    in Self Help

We began last week ( even with me being a little sleepy!) with discussing how to learn to trust yourself again and comparing that to being on the yoga mat.   With each pose, we learn to listen, ask for help and move with intention.  These skills then move with us to the rest of our lives.

This week we will hone in even more with intention and listening.  I don't know about you, but after living a life of poor decisions, it took so long for me to stop doubting myself!  Together we will look at how to strengthen your resolve to trust you "gut" more.

Make sure that you do your homework and watch the Last Airbender video on my website, www.buildingblocksofrecovery.com on the resources page.

I look forward to talking with you next week. 3:30 PM PST on blogtalkradio!

Saturday Morning Cereal - Falling Skies Special Encore

    in Entertainment

Take some time this week to remember your original happy hour: Saturday mornings as a kid, waking up at dawn, jumping on the couch with a bowl of chocolate cereal, turning on the ‘toons, tuning out the outside world, and working your way into a sugar hangover before noon. This week we flashback to the return of TNT and Steven Spielberg’s hit show Falling Skies last summer in recognition of the upcoming WonderCon (sorry WonderCon, but Star Wars Celebration is just too powerful a Force this season). Marke. walks us through what we may have missed and what we can expect with WonderCon round table interviews from many of the show’s stars, including Doug Jones (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth), Sarah Carter (Final Destination 2, Smallville), Moon Bloodgood (Terminator Salvation, Eight Below), Seychelle Gabriel (The Last Airbender, The Spirit), and an exclusive interview with Connor Jessup. Heads up, Chicken Little.
