CAR Therapy for Myeloma Treatment with Dr. Craig Hofmeister

    in Health

CS1-CAR is a new and radically different approach in cancer treatment that harnesses the power of the patients immune system to rid itself of cancer. Initial clinical trials of a similar therapy used in treating Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia showed extraordinary success 88% of patients achieved complete remission. CureTalk panelists are talking to Dr. Craig Hofmeister to help us understand this new therapy and how myeloma patients will benefit.

MMORE: Multiple Myeloma Opportunities for Research & Education (www.mmore.org) is a non-profit organization that raises funds and awareness for early-stage innovative myeloma research. MMORE spoke about this innovative research on CureTalks in March and we continue the conversation with the researchers in this episode.

Dr. Craig Hofmeister is assistant professor of medicine at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. Dr. Hofmeister received his medical degree from The Ohio State University and completed his internship, residency, and fellowship training at Loyola University Medical Center and Loyola Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center in Illinois. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology. Dr. Hofmeister's clinical and research interests include multiple myeloma and blood and marrow transplantation.

On the panel are Gary Petersen, Pat Killingsworth and Jack Aiello. RSVP Now!

How Dementia & My Parents Turned Me Into a Caregiver & a Car Thief

    in Caregiving

Join Dave, The Caregiver's Caregiver, as he interviews Ellen Nielsen, a marketing and communications consultant based in Alberta, Canada.  She was also a caregiver to two parents with dementia (at the same time). Her parents moved in to care together and were fortunate to share a room until her mother's passing in 2003.

Ellen's caregiving duties included a lot of things she would rather have not done, including theft of a car, and yet she considers herself better and stronger for having done them. Her father passed in 2013, now making Ellen an ex-caregiver, a role which she says is just as challenging to embrace as the original task of becoming a caregiver.

You can find Ellen on facebook at facebook.com/caregiverconnexion - connection spelled with an x in the middle (because everything has to be just a little more complicated for caregivers - thanks Ellen).

Prodigy : Before we begin. Why this may or may not be for you.

    in Radio

I  am a professional team trainer for individuals who will earn no less than the US Government's standard of living wage starting, meaning no less than $33,000 US dollars a year (yes $50,000 is the average and it doesn't depend on time but the individual's own level of ease; more than that is not for beginners.)  This is working one job only, this one, and no one more hours needed than the ones to meet your specic goals, meaning part time or more the average work week of 40hrs may be your max personally, by choice or out of necessity but spending more than that isn't for anyone here except for choice to keep on going ; we are not looking for people who generally do not work 40hrs max or less.

This IS a job and a good one.  The benefits that are described are the trade offs for the work that you put in to your present and other jobs being the same or maybe more but I repeat this is a job , for people who want to work one job only to have to meet all their basic needs with extra time, and Peace of mind to enjoy it.  The catch is that you're going to be trained in doing sales over the phone, Internet, in person until it becomes so easy that it's natural, trained and trained until it becomes stress less for you at all, in this company, forget about any others, let them stress out.  That's that.  Inbox me any time if you can afford for your car (no need to have one but, ironically you will need this) I repeat, any time you can afford emergency road side service for your car, or switch emergency road side service for your car for one same or maybe better service, same or cheaper price no more) It is basically, per month, a fixed $20 dollars, no more is needed.

Another Fork in the Road: Lisabeth Mackall, Caregiver, Therapist, & Author

    in Education

When Lisabeth Mackall opened her front door at 2:30am on January 2, 2012, it changed her life forever. She learned that her husband, Police Officer Frank Mackall, had been in a serious motor vehicle accident while on duty, and had been airlifted to a hospital. When Lisabeth opened her front door, she unknowingly entered the world of brain injury. She had to follow “Another Fork in the Road.” Lisabeth will share how she and her family picked up the remnants, pieced them together with patience, persistence, and love, and forged a new life.

Every TBI survivor and caregiver has encountered a fork in the road that has diverted his or her life-plan. A car accident, a fall from the roof, doing one more chin-up, an IED blast, or a door literally slamming one in the face are just some causes of traumatic brain injury. College, walking down the aisle in the perfect dress, or the coveted job quickly slips from reality as dreams turn to struggle. These unexpected life-happenings that divert one from his or her chosen path in life can be devastating.

But as Yogi Berra once said, “If you come to a fork in the road, take it.” Life is all about choices!
