Garnet Schulhauser; author of Dancing on a Stamp and Dancing Forever with Spirit.
A retired lawyer who lives near Victoria, on Vancouver Island, with his wife, Cathy, and little dog, Abby, , Garnet recounts how his life changed dramatically one day in 2007 (while still practicing law) when he was confronted on the street by a homeless man named Albert (who was actually a wise spirit in disguise--an emissary from the spirit world).
This seemingly chance encounter launched a provocative dialogue with Albert who disclosed startling new truths about all of life's big questions.
Albert's goal was to encourage humans to stop their abuse of Mother Earth and all of her inhabitants by casting aside their negative emotions and in favor of love and compassion.

The 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup began last weekend, a sight for sore eyes among soccer fans tired of the ongoing FIFA scandal. The U.S. team started group play with a win over Australia but appeared weak defensively at times. Not to worry. Hope Solo was terrific in the net, apparently unphased by all the talk surrounding her domestic violence scandal resurfacing. The U.S. National Team suffered heartbreak in the World Cup championship game of 2011, can they beat the field and reclaim the title that has eluded them since 1999? The Chicago Blackhawks returned home for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals, but failed to capitalize on numerous scoring chances in a 3-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Star players are missing from the Hawks' stat sheet, can they turn that around in time to win the Cup? And the NBA Finals continue with Game 3 tonight in Cleveland. Despite losing Kyrie Irving for the remainder of the series, Lebron James willed his Cavaliers to a win in Game 2. With the series tied, will it be MVP Steph Curry's time to shine as his Warriors look to take back home-court advantage? All this plus your calls @ (347) 327-9183.

Just imagine – at risk young people with few prospects suddenly presented with the chance to go to camp. That was Abby Sondak’s dream. Working in Washington DC’s inner city public schools, she saw plenty of kids with limited opportunities. Abby decided to do something about it. She started her own non-profit to send kids to camp so that they could enjoy the same carefree and enjoyable summer fun that she experienced. Starting with two campers in 2011, Abby decided to create her own non-profit, Just Imagine. Her campers have flourished and the organization has grown.
Just Imagine was incorporated in 2012 with the goal of being able to provide as many wonderful D.C. Public and Charter school students with the summer experience of a lifetime. With the help from friends, family, camps and other supporters, nine students were able to attend sleep away camp that summer. That grew to 14 camp scholarships for the summer of 2013 and 22 students with scholarships in 2014. This summer, 45 children will receive scholarships to camp.
Abby Sondak graduated from the University of Maryland in 2009, and began working for a non-profit organization called Playworks. During her time with Playworks, she worked in inner city public schools in Washington DC, creating a safe, inclusive environment for children to play with one another. Following her time with Playworks, she was hired as a PE Teacher at E.W. Stokes Public Charter School in NE DC. She completed a Masters in Elementary Education in May, and has recently been hired as the Development and Communications Manager at Stokes.
Join Mark and Carolyn, as we hear Abby’s inspiring story. She’ll tell us how her desire to meet student’s dreams resulted in a non-profit that touches the lives of at risk kids.
