Tonight is an introduction to next week's show Legalized Murder. Next week I will have as my guest a Viet Nam Combat War Veteran I met recently. WE were discussing the U.S. re-engagement of military forces in Iraq. And he said, yeah, more legalized murder. So tonight I am going to look at the philosophy of war and the progression from war to defense and prepare the way for me to discuss war as legalized murder with an actual combat war veteran.
Tonight's Politics: Second Murder. Ferguson. Unrest. Guests include writer/singer John Milton Wesley (MD), DeeAnna Lopes (TX), and LaQuay Juel (NJ) of Obsidian News. National panel discusses Ferguson and the second murder. Panel discusses history of race relations in the US.
Soap Nation Live with Michael Fairman returned with an all new episode on Thursday night, August 7th. This 2 hours broadcast featured our very special in studio guest co-host, General Hospital's Kimberly McCullough (Robin). During the show we welcomed soap star guests: Finola Hughes (Anna) of General Hospital, Gina Tognoni (Phyllis) of The Young and the Restless, and Galen Gering (Rafe) of Days of our Lives for some lively segments. And as a surprise for Kimberly, her on-screen daughter Brooklyn Rae Silzer (Emma) called-in as did one of Kimberly's former leading men on the show, Michael Sutton (Ex-Stone). Listeners called in to pose questions and commnets to the guests and one lucky caller won tickets to all the individual soap star events at the upcoming Fall Getaway Orlando GH Fan Event.
The Murder of Michael Brown & Eric Garner: Are the Police Taliban, or Al Qaeda? Who do you fear most?
In the 1960's it was the act of a MARCH, PROTEST, BOYCOTT AND ECONOMIC CHALLENGES that brought CHANGES
This episode will discuss the murder of Eric Garner and Michael Brown. Eric Garner was murdered for voicing his concern about being targeted by police and for an alleged prior possession of untaxed cigarettes, which led to a death sentence. Michael Brown was murdered allegedly with his hands in the air and also while unarmed. He was shot six times with a fatal bullet to the 18 year old head. We will discuss the ongoing problems associated with untrained police officers who encounter unarmed people and police citizen encounters in America. Garner wanted to know why he was being harassed and he suffered a life sentence for merely questioning police officers and why are Americans under attack by their local police who are commissioned to protect and serve the community. However, it appears that local police departments are armed military forces who target their communities like terrorist. Who do you fear the Taliban, Al Qaeda or your local police? A side bar, in Georgia a bomb was thrown threw a window of a home occupied by a family to enforce a search warrant. A child suffered severe injuries!
We will also cover why 12 NYPD officers were required to respond to the home of a Brooklyn grandmother and force her from her home and the Protest against the Shooting death of an unarmed teen in Ferguson Missouri
The Gift of Choice - Choosing to Live in Pleasure
It is the Bonnie and Betty show this week, and today we will be talking about living in pleasure. What does it take for you to choose the perspective of pleasure in the face of struggle, defeat, and failure? Life is not always a bowl of cherries, as we deal with negative news, negative others, and our own negative thoughts. How we find happiness and positivity without ignoring the truth is our topic today. Pause and consider that for a moment. Feel free to call in or get in the chat room online.

When most people hear the word “desperation”, they certainly don’t think of a gift. In fact, the dictionary defines desperation as, “a strong feeling of sadness, fear, and loss of hope”. But as with so many other things in recovery, like surrender, vulnerability and powerlessness, desperation has an opposite meaning.
Taking that first step in stopping drinking is extremely difficult for most of us. We can’t even begin to imagine how to live our lives without alcohol…until we become desperate. When we are in enough pain, when we become desperate...we make a change. We surrender. We ask for help. This is why we call it, “The Gift of Desperation”.
On this episode we will discuss what the gift of desperation felt like for us and how we use that same gift as a tool in maintaining our sobriety.
