Sir Francis Younghusband - Soldier and Mystic

    in Radio

On Thursday February 4th, 2016 The Hermetic Hour with host Poke Runyon
will present a discussion on the fascinating military and occult career
of Lt.Colonel Sir Francis Edward Younghusband (1863-1942) the conqueror
of Tibet (1904) and the author of several books on travel, adventure and
mystical philosophy. Colonel Younghusband was an officer in British
Special forces in India during a cold war between the British and the
Russians for control of the Central Asian highlands north of India in
the latter days of the 19th century. Their covert conflict was called
"The Great Game" and was the stage for high adventure. Rudyard Kipling
novelized "The Great Game" in Kim. In 1904 Lord Curson the Viceroy of
India sent Colonel Younghusband up into Tibet with an invading British
army to flush out the Russians whom Curson was convinced had infiltrated
the mysterious country. After slaughtering the primitive Tibetan army,
Younghusband took Lhasa but could not find a single Cossack, or even a
Russian rifle, However he did stay long enough to have a mystical
experience that transformed him from a ruthless conqueror into a
peaceful mystical philosopher. He retired to England to write books
about his adventures and his visions, which included life on other
planets, a philosophy of free love, a spiritual drama society and an
expedition to climb Mt. Everest. -- If you want to spend an hour with
the Colonel, tune in and we'll hit the trail going up.

the story of Ruth Lipschits-de-Leeuwe WW2 & holocaust survivor

    in Spirituality

I was born in Haifa, Palestine, in November 1936. Palestine then was a British Mandate. In 1933 my parents got married and immediately emigrated to Palestine. They both were Jewish and very idealistic and part of a Zionistic movement. My father has been a busdriver and musician in the Palestine Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1939 my parents decided to travel – by boat – to the Netherlands to show me to the family. I was 2 ½ years old and I don’t have any memories of Palestine. We have been 8 weeks on a boat. In February 1940 my brother Ruben has been born in Rotterdam; we were living near to our family. The next very dramatic happening in my life was the German bombardment of the city of Rotterdam. For the whole of the Netherlands the real beginning of the Second World War. This I can remember very well. I was completely hysterical. We had to leave Rotterdam and found a short shelter with friends in the center of the country. I remember almost permanently sitting under the table, refusing to eat, being terribly frightened. Then the organization of the Resistance found us a house in Bennekom near the rest of our family in a village were a lot of Jews were accepted to live temporarily. One of my last nice memories before hiding was the visit of my grandmother, arriving in a coach with horses, celebrating our half a year birthday. (I have been born on the birthday of my grandmother). That was the last time I ever saw her and I deeply loved her. After the war my parents found out that she was gassed in concentration camp Auschwitz (15 oktober 1942, 61 years old). About two months later my mother told me that my brother and I were going to stay with a very nice aunt for a while – no, and I didn’t know her. No, we could not take any toys with us.

The End of the Beginning - The Race to the White House

    in Politics

After the British victory at the Battle of the Second El Alamein in November of 1942, Winston Churchill spoke to the British people. Churchill eloquently stated, “Now, this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.”

Perhaps, the same can be said of the opening salvos of the 2016 Presidential Election. We have watched numerous debates on both sides, filled with candidates grandiose and not very grandiose. Gradually, the field is being thinned and on February 1, 2016, the games truly begin at the Iowa Caucuses.

On the Tuesday, January 19th edition of the Ray Starmann Show, Ray takes a look at each Presidential Candidate still in the running and also discusses the news of the day, including the ongoing issues with Iran.

Stay tuned for another informative, politically incorrect broadcast.

Military Monday with John D. Gresham and Zenith Press Author John Fredrickson

    in History

As America remembers the 74th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, it is worth remembering that the eventual victory of the Allies over the Axis nations in World War II was as much a victory of industrial production as battles fought. In his 1942 State of the Union address to Congress, Pres. Franklin Roosevelt set a goal of building 60,000 combat aircraft in 1942. In one of the greatest industrial miracles in history, America built far more. One of the key contractors in that effort was the North American Aviation (NAA) company of Inglewood, CA, which is just a few years earlier had been a small airplane design/manufacturing concern. Led by a tough, no-nonsense maverick engineer and industrialist, James "Dutch" Kindelberger, NAA would build some of the most important warplanes in history to help win World War II. Planes like the AT-6/SNJ advanced trainer, B-24 Liberator and B-25 Mitchell bombers, and the legendary P-51 Mustang fighter. But what did the factories look like, and who were the people who worked there? Notwithstanding the standing mythology about the American home front during World War II, the realities of an aircraft factory during that time go far beyond the image of "Rosie the Riveter."

To learn more abou NAA and it's people during World War II, join us for this week's Military Monday (#MilitaryMonday on the Writestream Radio Network (@Writestream)). Author, historian, journalist, documentary filmmaker, and host John D. Gresham (@greshamj01) has invited Zenith Press author John Fredrickson to discuss his new book Warbird Factory, a new photographic history of NAA and it's World War II factories/people. So join us today at 1 PM Eastern Time for what is sure to be an intriguing and informative show.
