Scottscope Talk Radio 4/10/2013: Beware The Evil Dead!

On this week’s edition of Scottscope Talk Radio, the roundtable takes a look at the latest horror remake, Evil Dead!  Is it worthy of the original?  Does it even merit comparison?  Is it as gory as the advance buzz suggests?  Do modern horror films rely too much on excessive bloodletting?      Should Sam Raimi have directed it himself?  Should he and Bruce Campbell simply have done Evil Dead 4 instead?  Should the series continue in its current form?  Is the absence of Ash detrimental to the film? 

We’ll also be celebrating the life and legacy of film critic Roger Ebert.  Why was he the preeminent film critic of his generation?  Why did the general public seem to connect with him in such a profound way?  How did he manage to make film critique and analysis accessible to the ordinary layman?  Did Armond White’s observations have merit?  Why was Ebert so passionate about Black film?  Have modern film critics and bloggers taken his lessons to heart, or have they abandoned those teachings?  Has the internet bastardized the art of film criticism?
