The Harris County Housing Authority has just announced completion of Sierra Meadows, the nation’s first veteran-themed affordable housing for active senior adults. The HCHA built the development to provide safe and affordable housing for people at or near retirement age, with special recognition paid to U.S. Armed Forces veterans and the families who support them.

Sierra Meadows consists of one- and two-bedroom apartments and town homes in a 10-acre setting designed to promote an active retirement lifestyle. The resort-style property features a patriotic theme, most notably expressed in a 2-acre Gold Star garden with a living-landscape Purple Heart and eternal waterfall at its center.
