Join us for a discussion about awareness. “Dancing the Dream” By Jamie Sams (page 95) As we learn to listen to our thoughts and observe the many types of internal voices that are projecting those thoughts within our minds, we may encounter some unpleasant realizations about how our behaviors are controlled by the thoughts we entertain. We learn to identify the voices within our minds that come from pain or woundedness, pride, or shame. We may find situations where we give our authority to others who are seemingly more enlightened about life, or we may think that we know it all and become stubborn, arrogant, or boastful. We may discover that we have invested our self-importance in areas that allow us to use our career or social positions to open doors, and yet we are not happy. We can also discover that in our own woundedness, we have no sense of self at all and that the enemy is the self-defeating attitudes we hold or the internal voices of self-hatred that we adopted while growing up. We can also discover that we have picked role models or teachers that are wrong for us. We can suddenly realize that the groups we are associated with have become rigid, self-serving, or controlling. All of these resulting points of clarity are the products of introspection, and if we are willing to change, they can radically alter the way we live our lives.
