It's the same old story for the New York Jets. Defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson has been suspended for the first four games of the upcoming season so there's already a big negative. A 4-12 record last year meant changes were definitely coming. Out is Rex Ryan. In is first-year man Todd Bowles, who was the Jets secondary coach in 2000. This'll be his first year to be a head coach since serving as the interim for the Dolphins in 2011. I can't say I blame the fans for their impatience, but let's face it. As long as Belicheck, Brady, & company are still active, the AFC East belongs to the Patriots. But w/ cornerback Darrelle Revis coming back, you can bet your royal ass that the gasoline has been poured on the fire once again. & w/ other additions such as running back Stevan Ridley (also coming over from New England), wide receiver Brandon Marshall, & cornerback Antonio Cromartie (who also comes back to the Jets after being away for one season), there has to be a little bit of optimism in the city that never sleeps. Bowles will have his hands full, however, especially w/ the quarterback position. I can't exactly say that Ryan Fitzpatrick makes them that much better of a football team, but he is better than the other options they have. Geno Smith just hasn't been getting it done. Maybe a new coaching staff might do the kid some justice. But how much better WILL the Jets be in 2015 & beyond? Tune in to another installment of "The Rocket Sports Breakdown" Wednesday July 15 @ 10:30am. Rocket Nation, get ready for a power trip.
