Upon entering the 2014 NFL season, many believed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be a playoff team. Well last I checked, 2 wins in a 16-game season doesn't get you anywhere but most likely last place in your division. I actually thought they would be better than 4 wins in 2013, & they were awfully worse. & as a result, they landed the #1 overall pick in the 2015 Draft & took highly touted quarterback from their inner state, Jameis Winston, who's known for big plays & big trouble. Last year was the first year Lovie Smith took over as head coach & you would've thought the brotha might had regretted such a decision. But this team has talent on both sides of the ball. Second year wide receiver Mike Evans has even bigger expectations this year after being part of arguably the biggest wide receiver draft class in league history. Add the likes of Vincent Jackson, Gerald McCoy, George Johnson (back w/ team after being traded from Detroit), & Chris Conte (free agent pickup form Chicago), this Tampa team has some pieces to compete in what I believe will be a competitive division...not saying they'll win, but all 4 teams have proven they can hang w/ each other in division play for the most part. But I'm anxious to see what Winston will look like during his rookie campaign, assuming he's named the official started before regular season play (he most likely will be if healthy & productive enough). This team should be better than 2 wins. They can't get worse. But can this roster REALLY compete in the NFC South? I'm not so sure they can but tune in to another team report coverage of "The Rocket Sports Breakdown" Wednesday morning @ 9:30am. Rocket Nation, get ready for a power trip.
