According to the American Cancer Society, in the United States, prostate cancer is occurring at epidemic rates and is the most common malignancy in American men. Although 1-in-3 men are estimated to have prostate cancer, most will not die of it.  African American men, however, have a two thirds higher rate of developing prostate cancer compared with Caucasian men and are about 2.5 times as likely to die from prostate cancer.  Men with a father, brother or son with a history of prostate cancer are two times as likely to develop prostate cancer themselves, and men with two or more relatives with the disease are nearly four times as likely to get prostate cancer.
