The Green Bay Packers had to sweat out a 27-23 victory, over the Jacksonville Jaguars, mentally and physically. The temperature on the field reached 113 degrees, and the Jaguars applied pressure on the Packers defense all day. Blake Bortles drove the Jaguars to the Green Bay 14 with :23 seconds remaining. On a fourth and one, the Packers defense held by tackling Allen Hurns short of the first down marker.

Aaron Rodgers had two touchdown passes and ran for another, on the opening drive. Statistically, Rodgers had an average day completing 20 of 34 passes for 199 yards. The Packers offense did not turn the ball over and converted 50% on third downs. The one mishap was in the red zone. On a third and two from the Jaguars two yard line, Rodgers barked out the signals. The offensive line went into pass protection but Rodgers handed the ball to James Starks who was smothered for no gain. A touchdown there could have given the Packers more breathing room.

The Jaguars kept this game close by converting three of four fourth downs to keep drives alive. The only miss came on their last offensive play of the game. The Jaguars only converted 26% of their third downs and scored one red zone touchdown on three attempts. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix seemed to seal the game with an interception with under two minutes to play. However, Morgan Burnett was called for defensive holding. That penalty gave the Jaguars a new set of downs. The Packers held on for the victory to start the year 1-0.
