Join Carmel Love and co-host Marcell Green and Brian Brewster all of Solar Entertainment Music Group as they chop it up with Mello Soul! Brownsville, Brooklyn born and bred Alan Davis sans “Mello Soul” is the epitome of soul and heartfelt passion. Growing up, the Soul in Mello was derived from his belief that soul comes from pain and overwhelming emotions from life’s ups and downs. Using what's been placed against him as motivation to push forward. Initiated into the key of life beginning at the tender age of 5, discovering his natural gift while singing male lead in the “Harold Burton Children’s Choir” at Brownsville’s Community Baptist Church. He credits his uncle of teaching him how to vocalize early on and proclaiming him to be “the definition of talent”. Being the eldest of 5 children and helping to raise his younger siblings helped in his development as a natural leader and survivor. Using those components he transcended them into his musical career, In his own words, “Everyday is a hustle and unless you lived through life struggles, you wouldn’t understand what hunger is”. By the age of 16, he started writing his own music recording his first song titled “I Need To Know” over Lil Kim’s “Crush On You” track. It wasn’t long after the following year after a performance on BCAT’s “Flex N Brooklyn”.. …. it was then he solidified his aspirations of pursuing a career in music. Blessed with a distinctive, sultry voice and the writing ability to translate his stories into songs, has resulted in a catalogue that includes over a hundred self-written and performed songs. As a performer, he exerts his passion to perform at any opportunity granted to display his vocals. He notes Stevie Wonder as one of his greatest musical influences along with Luther Vandross, Marvin Gaye, Barry White, R.Kelly and Boys II Men. A father of two……. he's determined in setting his mark into the musical universe!
