You’ve often heard it said “it takes a village to raise a child.” Yet, frequently the “village people” say their hands are tied - they say parents don’t want help. Last week, I was in Wal-Mart and a woman with four children was exiting the store just ahead of me. Her toddler fell out in a temper tantrum right in the middle of the door way. She instructed me to just “step over him.” “Step on him, if you have to.” She could not get him to move. I was dumfounded that a grown (seemingly intelligent) 180 pound woman could not bring her 30 pound child under control. Call in Monday night and hear what I did and tell us what you would have done. Some parents feel helpless. Others don’t recognize the problem. The show is about OPC – Other Peoples’ Children. What role should we play in their correction? As interested relatives, friends, neighbors, teachers, church family and concerned members of the community, what should we do – what can we do? Some of us just turn our heads the other way, for fear we offend the parents. Some of us jump right in an handle the situation as if it were our own children. Parents, we want to hear from you. Neighbors and friends, we want to hear from you. Village People, we want to hear from you. Monday night, December 20, at 7:00 p.m., Central Time – just dial 347-324-5185. Don’t miss it!
