Think lifeguarding is working on a tan while watching bikinis? Lt. Jim McCrady gives a different view. The men and woman in Ocean Rescue are trained to save lives – and they do. They also watch for sharks and lightning. Find out what happens when you refuse to obey a lifeguard’s command. Lifeguarding can be a lifelong career, if you stay in shape. The oldest Fort Lauderdale beach guard is 62. Most beach guards are athletes. Lt. McCrady won a competition for rowing 22 miles. After March 4, you'll find Lt. McCrady “in the cloud” at http://www.mixcloud.com/tag/elaine-viets/
